EVERY ONE OF US BUILDS THE

FINNISH CULTURE OF SUBSTANCE USE WITH OUR DAILY CHOICES.

How can we support you?

Finnish Association for Substance Abuse Prevention EHYT produces methods, information and help for different-aged Finns and various communities to support healthy ways of living. The basis is that substances do not belong in the working life, traffic, pregnancy, or childhood and youth. Children and young people have the right to a safe and substance-free growth environment, which adults make possible with their choices.

EHYT was founded on January 1st 2012 when three NGOs joined forces: Finnish Association for Healthy Lifestyles, Finnish Health Association NGO and EOPH. Alongside preventive work related to alcohol, tobacco and drugs, EHYT prevents the harms of gaming and gambling and promotes substance-free traffic. It also has a strong effect on the development of the whole society.

EHYT calls for proper substance policy and co-operation based on factual arguments. Above all, EHYT is an expert, supporter and influencer. It is also an NGO, an arena for voluntary work, peer support and encountering people. Volunteer work in member organisations all over Finland and the know-how of our own personnel are combined in what we do.

Effective work requires an actor that can work on many le. vels: In the everyday life of ordinary people. Supporting various communities, such as work places and municipalities. As an influence on the society all the way up to legislation. EHYT does all of this, on the levels of individuals, communities and the society.

EHYT’s methods, trainings, publications, facilities and events are there to support you around Finland –through our professionals and volunteers alike. Somewhere near you there is one of our meeting places, regional centres or activities of our member organisation.

Regional centres and offices with their professional staff serve you all across Finland. The network of around 25 Elokolo and other social and community centres cater for your hunger for company and activities. Our around 100 member organisations organise local events and activities that support everyday wellbeing and hand out informa-tion about substance abuse related matters and promoting health.

There are over 30 organisations in the Network for Pre-ventive Substance Abuse Work coordinated by EHYT. The target-oriented cooperation strengthens the organisations’ weight as promoters of wellbeing and health. The key measures of the network in influencing substance policy are resolutions, statements, communications, and making civic activity visible.

EHYT serves NGO and voluntary workers by producing training and events, conveying current and research infor-mation, and coordinating campaigns and other commu-nication actions (such as Dry January and the Preventive Substance Abuse Work Week). Welcome to our network! Together we are more.

A strong network

The network is coordinated by EHYT’s Coordination Department.
