Case Study: Procurement Transformation at RPI
Project Background An unforeseen crisis at the University prompted senior management to look at transforming the approach to sourcing and procurement. After looking at several companies, RPI selected E&I Consulting Group to help with the project.
Key BenefitsNew Strategic Sourcing Model: E&I Consulting helped RPI transition from a purely tactical to a strategic sourcing model.Reduced Costs: the adoption of a high volume of new contracts and master agreements has driven down costs.Increased Usage of the E-procurement Platform: users across campus now use the marketplace for virtually all purchases.Strong ROI: RPI targeted a return on investment of approximately $800K per year for the first five years. After 12 months they were already showing an ROI of $1.5M – and fully expect the saving to accelerate each year moving forward.Organizational Transformation: E&I Consulting helped RPI streamline the procurement team, deploy staff on more strategic activities, and attract new key talent.
