WORLD DAY AGAINST TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS (JULY 30)The World Day Against Trafficking in Persons was desig-nated by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2013. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon said, “Every country must join together to overcome this transnational threat by supporting and protecting victims while pursuing and prosecuting the criminals. WEEKLY MASS AT ATLANTA VA MEDICAL CENTER All Catholics are invited to attend the weekly Monday Mass at the Atlanta VA Medical Center, 1670 Clairmont Road, Decatur, GA 30033. Mass begins at 11:30 a.m. Many of our Catholic veterans do not have family or visitors and look to the church for pastoral care. This weekly Mass is celebrated for the wellbeing and spiritual support of veterans from all branches. HOLY SPIRIT CATHOLIC CHURCH is seeking a part-time Assistant Youth Minister. The ideal candidate needs to have experience working with middle school teens and must be a practicing Catholic in good standing. The candidate’s du-ties include coordinating and implementing Sunday nights for the middle school programming, the annual middle school retreat, and periodic social activities. This position also works administratively with the Youth Minister in prep-aration for Confirmation. NEWS AT LOURDES
PARKING UPDATE We’re happy to report that we continue to receive very creative and viable development proposals for our Centennial Property (bordered by Gar-trell Street to the South, Boulevard on the West, and Daniel Street to the East and just one block South of Edgewood Avenue). We purchased the property in a stra-tegic partnership with the Archdiocese of Atlanta in 2013. Since then, we have negotiated with the City of Atlanta to Re-Zone the property so that we can ulti-mately have parking spaces available in a parking deck during our Masses and oth-er events. As has been mentioned, zoning and the existing Master Plan for the King Historic District require a mixed property development which restricts what we are able to do. The Archdiocesan Project Review Committee is working with us to review and negotiate the proposals in order to ensure the best outcome for Lourdes. This has been a lengthy process and will take a bit more time. We under-stand that our parking needs are a priority and we assure you that we are diligently working to resolve this issue. We will keep you informed as meetings with devel-opers proceed and we move closer to an acceptable contractual agreement. Thank you for your patience and your prayers.
