Einstein PRIDE - Spring Open House - April 3rd
Einstein staff and students will showcase their work and celebrate Einstein PRIDE at the annual Spring Open House, Thursday April 3 at 6:30 to 8:00 PM. All 7th and 8th grade students and their families are encouraged to join us for an evening of celebrations, performances, and conversations. The program begins at 6:30PM in the cafeteria. Following the Golden Acorn/Apple Award Presentations and a short general PTSA meeting you are welcome to stay in the Cafeteria for Cupcakes, Jazz and a Choral Concert. We also encourage parents and students to mix and mingle with student's teachers and participate in a "Wishing Party" with our student artists in the SAC, Library and in the Science Room B-8. The library will be hosting a book fair.
Be part of the amazing PTSA and bake or purchase cupcakes for the event. The goal is to have 500 cupcakes to consume that evening. The event is fun and casual. If you would like to contribute 2 dozen cupcakes contact Jennifer Gettman (see Volunteer box to the right.) You can drop them off in the main office on April 3. We hope you are able to spend some of your time at this fun event.

Ms. Dame and Ms. Nelson want to send a HUGE thank you to the Shoreline Public Schools Foundation for their generous grant! We were able to purchase thirty new books for Ms. Nelson's classroom reading library. Ms. Nelson and class are definitely enjoying the new books! One way they have already put them to use is by creating podcasts based on the books while in the library with Ms. Dame.
Below are some pictures from Ms. Nelson's class working on podcasts based on the books we bought with money from a Shoreline Foundation grant. More pictures on page 11.

Did You Know?In a March 10, 2014 Chronicle of Higher Education article entitled "Who Knew? Arts Education Fuels the Economy", Sunil Iyengar and Ayanna Hudson speak about the impact that arts education has on the econo-my:
". . . The Partnership for 21st-Century Skills, a coalition of business and education leaders and policy makers, found, for example, that education in dance, theater, music, and the visual arts helps instill the curiosity, creativity, imagination, and capacity for evaluation that are perceived as vital to a productive U.S. work force. And the Conference Board, an international business-research organization, polled employers and school superintendents, finding that creative problem-solving and communications are deemed important by both groups for an innovative work force. Additionally, IBM, in a 2010 report based on face-to-face interviews with more than 1,500 CEOs worldwide, concluded that "cre-ativity trumps other leadership characteristics" in an era of relentless complexity and disruptive change."
