Construction on the Kinnickinnic River Construcción en el río Kinnickinnic

The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) is happy to announce that the new playground, basketball court, and futsal court are now open! Please enjoy but try to stay off the straw matted areas to allow the new grass to grow. Beginning July 29, 2019, part of Cleveland Ave will be closed as the river is widened and new trails are constructed under the bridge. Cleveland Ave is scheduled to be reopened on December 20, 2019. Pulaski Pool and the pool parking lot will remain open during this road closure. MMSD continues to work in Pulaski Park to restore the Kinnickinnic River to a natural stream and is scheduled to complete the project by April

2020.

How to help keep plastic from reaching our waterways

1. Bring reusable bags to the grocery store 2. Look for packaging made of glass, paper, or from a

percentage of recycled materials 3. Bring reusable dishware and utensils to work or

school 4. Use reusable water bottles and ditch one-time use

beads, they’re hard to filter out of the water! 6. Avoid using plastic straws 7. Recycle plastic items number 1, 2, 4, & 5

Hi everyone! Summer is finally here and many positive neighborhood changes have already taken place. On Saturday, May 25th we hosted our Annual Opening Garden Day at the newly re-named KK River Plaza formerly known as the 13th-16th St. Greenspace. Over 50 neighbors and community members helped shovel woodchips, weed the community gardens, install six colorful bird and bat homes, stain the picnic table and benches, re-paint the Little Free Library, and more. Thank you to everyone who participated! Stay tuned for other exciting events in the Plaza throughout the Summer and Fall. Want to get involved? Join us every 2nd Wednesday of the month at the Pulaski Park Pavilion, from 6-7pm, for our monthly neighborhood meetings!

¡Hola a todos! El verano finalmente está aquí y muchos cambios positivos en el vecindario ya han tomado lugar. El sábado, 25 de mayo, organizamos nuestra apertura anual del jardín en la recientemente renombrada Plaza del río KK, anteriormente conocido como el parquesito entre las calles 13 y 16. Más de 50 vecinos y miembros de la comunidad ayudaron a palear astillas de madera, desyerbar los jardines comunitarios, instalar 6 casas de pájaros y murciélagos, pintar la mesa de picnic y las bancas, pintar de nuevo la pequeña biblioteca y más. Gracias a todos los que participaron y estén atentos a otros eventos emocionantes en la Plaza durante el verano y el otoño. ¿Quiere involucrarse? ¡Únase a nosotros el segundo miércoles del mes en el pabellón del parque Pulaski, de 6 a 7 pm, para nuestras reuniones mensuales!

Hello all!

I hope everyone is having a safe and good summer and yes, the new additions to the park are open and being used! Come and check it out but please do not walk on the grass—it is still growing. Also, there are new garbage cans around the park to help us keep it clean by not littering. Don’t forget that across the street there is the KK River Plaza we ask everyone to please encourage your neighbors to respect this wonderful trail and art and enjoy what we all want to keep happening in this neighborhood... GROWTH. Lastly, join us at our Annual Summer Picnic, July 20th.

Espero que todos esten disfrutando un verano seguro y bonito y sí, ¡las nuevas adiciones al parque están abiertas y en uso! Vengan y véanlas pero por favor no caminen sobre las areas con paja, todavía está creciendo el césped. Además, hay nuevos botes de basura alrededor del parque para ayudarnos a

mantenerlo limpio y no tirar basura. No olvide que al otro lado de la calle está la

Plaza del río KK. Les pedimos a todos que les exijan a sus vecinos a que

respeten este maravilloso sendero y el arte, y que disfruten de lo que todos

queremos que suceda en este vecindario ...CRECIMIENTO. Por último, únase a nosotros en nuestro Picnic Anual de Verano, el 20 de julio.

On Saturday, July 20th, Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers’ Department of Environmental Health in partnership with the KK River Neighbors in Action neighborhood association, will be hosting their Annual Summer Picnic at Pulaski Park. Every year, this event brings together local artists, residents, community members, organizations, and other community stakeholders by creating a safe and family-friendly environment for people to talk to one another and learn about the changes happening in the neighborhood. This year, we will have Salvadorian food, a local DJ, and other free family-friendly activities for families to take part in.

Join us in celebrating the start of summer, neighborhood beautification efforts, and the new developments on our beautiful KK River and within Pulaski Park!

Yoga in the Park! Free and family-friendly ¡Yoga en el parque! Gratis y para toda la familia

El sábado 20 de julio, el Departamento de Salud Ambiental de la clínica dieciséis, en asociación con la asociación de los vecinos en acción del río KK, organizarán su Picnic Anual de Verano en el parque Pulaski. Cada año, este evento reúne a artistas locales, residentes, miembros de la comunidad, organizaciones y más en un ambiente seguro y familiar para que las personas conozcan a sus vecinos y aprendan más sobre los cambios que ocurren en el vecindario. Every Saturday in August and September from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Pulaski Park (2677 S. 16th St.)There will be Yoga in the Park sponsored by Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers. Classes will be held outdoors unless there is challenging weather in the forecast in which case we’d move inside into the Pulaski Park Pavilion. Classes are free, open to the public, and for all ages and skill levels. Don’t have a mat? No problem, we will have plenty to lend! This Yoga in the Park series is meant to help activate Pulaski Park in a positive way, increase the number of physical activities in the neighborhood, help neighbors start their days off strong, and create a family-friendly safe space. Help us spread the word!
