O I always did my homework. (viewed as an action that happened repeatedly so not preterite tense)
O No stem changes in the preterite
O TONS of irregulars—lo siento
O For now we will review regular, yo spell changers and 3 irregulars!
Regular –ar endings
Regular –er/ir endings
-car, -gar, -zar verbsO Verbs that end in
–car, -gar or –zar get a spelling change in the yo form only
O Sacar, tocar, practicar
O Pagar, jugar, llegar
O Almorzar, empezar
3 irregulars: ir, ser, hacer
O Ir and ser are the same in the preterit—look for context
O Notice el/ella form spelling!
Reflexive in the preterite
O Same rules apply!
O Place the reflexive pronoun before the conjugated verb
No stem change!O Examples:

Gustar and similar verbs in the preterit
O Same rule of using the el/ella form or ellos form only
O Me gusta, me gustan
O Me gustó, me gustaron
O Le encantó, le encantaron
O Me gustó la comida
O Me encantó el teatro
O Me interesó la clase de espanol
O Me fascinó la audicion
O Me molestaron los ruidos
