I have determined that I can be a part-time weather man. Is it Saturday,
then I predict RAIN! I’m getting tired of missing out on playing with the
other (employed) guys in our Saturday group. I bet they are not happy
either, losing the chance to take advantage of my current golf game. I
hope you have had a chance to try The Masters menu, as the pimento and
egg salad sandwiches were to die for! Many activities were undertaken at
the club such as the Farmer’s Market dinner, Fireside Family night, the
new grill menu, and tennis leagues underway. They are looking for a few
tennis players, if you are interested. The fairway aerification is compete
and some rain pounded down to predict some good fairways in our
future. The Tuesday Twosomes and the Thursday Rumble has initiated also.
May looks to be a busy month at Eldorado. There is not only the customary Mother’s Day brunch,
but also Goat YOGA (Don’t ask me). The Comedy Arena is having a performance on May 21st, so
make your reservation at www.eldoradocc.com/upcoming-events. At the end of the month, the
annual Memorial Day pool party from 12-4 will primarily kick off the pool season. This should be
an exciting time with pool games, a DJ, hotdog and burgers. RSVP on the upcoming events sites.
Take care,
Dwight Watson
It’s so much fun hanging at the club this time of year. The beautiful weather
makes for some great patio time and the new menu has many delicious
options! Saturday morning cardio tennis has really picked up with 3 full courts
of adult classes going at one time. If you are interested in giving tennis a shot,
now is the time to do it! May also brings with it lots of fun events at the club.
We are looking forward to the Fajitas and Ritas for Cinco de Mayo, the Goat
Yoga and the Comedy Arena. We are absolutely loving all the new activities the
club has to offer. If those don’t sound interesting enough, there’s always an
opportunity to spend time with family and friends for a
wonderful Mother’s Day Brunch or Steak Night. So, if you
need help getting connected or just want to spend some time
getting to know your fellow members, give us a shout. We’re
here to help!
It’s all happening right here at Eldorado Country Club!

It’s All Here!
Larry & Joi Macy
LETTER FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER
Dear Members – starting in early May you will start to see some workers here at the Club for about 4-6
weeks. While not a sexy project, the company is making a significant investment in making major
alterations to the roof and surrounding surfaces to address all the leaks that have plagued us for many
years. While the Club does not leak nearly as much as it did 3-4 years ago, we still have encroachment
into the Club that we simply need to rectify. None of the work should impact any events that might be
occurring on the interior and the “footprint” of the construction company will be very small. You may
see a storage container in the parking lot and will likely see workers on the roof. While I don’t have an
exact start date, at this time, it should be very soon. Besides repairing the various leaks, we also plan to
build a cover over the Governors Room Outdoor Patio. This is for two main reasons. First of all, that
patio has a negative slope that directs water into the building rather they away. Building a structure over
the patio will divert 95% of this water away from the building. Secondly, this will enhance this space
allowing us to better use that outdoor area for Member and private events. This really adds a
completely other element to the Governors Room which we look forward to utilizing. Finally, we will
also be looking to replace the corrugated plastic top that current sits over the smoking area of the Grill
patio with a more durable metal top. The overall work will not only roof work but will also including
reworking of the current stucco around the building and resealing of the existing stonework.
In other news, you will also see work being accomplished over in the tennis area during the month of
May. We are currently scheduled to resurface courts #3 and #4 as well as applying a patch to court #7.
This continues our project of resurfacing two courts per year that we started 3 years ago. In 2020, the
plan would be to resurface the final two remaining courts and evaluate the need to start over again in
2021. This in addition to the upgrades with the furniture, the deck and the fencing really has caused a lot
of positive feedback from the tennis players. In fact, even you are not a tennis player, I would encourage
all of you to stop by the deck and check things out. The tennis players are always open to socializing and
only a couple of them will try to coerce you into joining them for Cardio Tennis drills that have become
very popular at the Club. Remember – no matter your Memberships, if you are a Member at Eldorado
Country Club, you have privileges in the tennis area.
Now that summer is around the corner, most of you are aware that the pool reopens for the summer at
the end of the month. In advance of that, we will be opening The Spot for weekends only from 9am –
3pm to serve the golfers on the course. With the new service window facing the #9 green, golfers have
a much more convenient way to grab food or drink during your round. You can order at the window, by
calling the Spot at 214-307-7390 or using the food order option under the Eldorado App. Prior to the
pool opening, we will be on a limited menu in that space before moving to something more
comprehensive through Labor Day. If the area is well utilized during the month of May, we will look to
extend the Spot after Labor Day into October so as to continue to have this opportunity for the golfers
during the continued good weather we typically see during those months.
Finally, I want to make sure all of you know that we are offering a second quarter
referral promotion in which you referrals can get you a new putter, a new driver and
even a new set of Calloway or Cobra irons. For more information about how you
can take advantage of this unique opportunity, please contact Michelle Hutton,
Membership Director, at either 972-529-6779 x202 or [email protected].
As always, thank you for your loyalty and support.
See you at the Club!
Chris Stewart
NEWS FROM THE GOLF SHOP
Well so far this year we have been cold, wet, and windy. Not the greatest
weather to play golf and most of our bad days have fallen on the weekend. May
is here and we hope that brings more consistent days for Members to come
utilize the golf course. We have lots of exciting things going on this month as we
get closer to Summer.
I would like to remind members as well that our weekly evening events are off to
a good start. Don’t forget we have Tuesday Twosomes for all golfers with
handicap at 5:45 PM. Thursdays we have Sip N Chip for the ladies at 6:00 PM and also at 5:45
PM is the RUMBLE for the men with a handicap. We hope everyone comes out to participate
in these fun club events.
I also want to recognize two members that had hole in ones these past couple months. Ken
Anders and Sam Donatelli. If you are not in the Hole in 1 club or are not sure, make sure you
ask us in the golf shop and we can verify that for you. The reward is pretty handsome for a
shot well played!

It seems like every month I sit down to write this it has either been raining,
just finished raining or getting ready to rain. After all of the rainfall we received
this fall it has continued to rain throughout the winter and into spring. On our
already saturated course we have had rain totals of 2.05” in January, 1.64”
February, 3.51” March and 7.29” to date in April. These rainfall totals coupled with below
average temperatures have had an adverse effect on our Course.
As stated in last month’s newsletter it takes a combined total of the daytime high and the
nighttime low temperature of 150 for the turfgrass to begin actively growing. At the time of
writing this we have only had a couple of days to date reach this benchmark. Until we
consistently get to the point the turf just does not respond to inputs such as fertilization and
begin to recover.
With the greens being sand based the amount of rain has pretty much moved all of the nutrients
in the out of the greens profiles. They have been lethargic to respond to fertility this spring.
Traditionally we have issues with 2 and 5 greens due in large part to shade issues throughout the
fall and winter. We are also seeing some thinning on 10 and 18 green due to herbicide damage
from our spring preemerge being washed onto the putting surface by one of our rain events. As
we are getting closer to our temperatures being conducive to recovery we will be hand
topdressing and fertilizing these areas to push for quick healing. Some of the more severe areas
may require some sod work and will be addressed on an individual basis.
The fairways have also been fertilized at this time and are recovering nicely from last month’s
aerification. Unfortunately all of the rain has prevented us from getting any tree trimming done
yet this spring. Once it is dry enough to have the trucks out we will continue with this plan. We
have made many improvements to our turf with the trimming done to date and will continue
forward maintaining a balance between the trees and turf.
With all of the rain we were able to complete a project that we have been wanting to do for
quite some time. The erosion area along the cart path at 8 green has been addressed. We
installed an edge with river rock in this area to tie back in with the turf while allowing for proper
drainage.
Not that I want the rain to stop completely but let’s just limit it to nighttime and a quarter of an
inch at a time so everyone can get out and enjoy the course. Thank you for your patience as we
work to get things back to normal.

NEWS FROM THE COURSE
We love our Members and want to make your birthday extra special at Eldorado!
Birthday Dinner certificates are issued at the beginning of every month via regular
mail, but if you do not receive yours by the 10th of the month, please contact
Member Relations Director, Lauren Williams at [email protected] and a
new one may be issued to you.
April showers bring May flowers and hopefully plenty of sunshine! Congratulations to all flight winners of both the Eclectic and Mars Venus Tournaments! And thank you to
our tournament coordinators: Patti Masotta & Laura Donovan (Eclectic) and Sonnie Wright & Linda Noland (Mars Venus) – we love and appreciate our volunteers!
The tradition continues as the Classy Sassy Tournament will be held on May 2nd which pits our ‘bold and cheeky’ members against our ‘elegant and sophisticated’ members
(you know who you are!). The winning team is rewarded with fine dining, while the losers are relegated to hot dogs. As a reminder, the EWGA Member Guest. Tournament will be held June 12th through 14th and, as we reported last month, is going to be jam-packed with games and special events. Presidents Cup Matches begins May 1st and run through August 1st. So, find another EWGA member and sign up for this flighted, match play event (Best Ball on the front nine and Alternate Shot on the
back nine). While you’re pairing up with other EWGA members, go ahead and find a partner for our Annual Member-Member Tournament which is coming up in July.
So, Tiger may have topped off an amazing comeback story with his win in the Masters but…our very own Dianne Riddle eagled Hole #3 on April 2nd! Sorry, no Green
Jacket, Dianne, but way to go!!!
A couple of reminders before you go: Stay connected with the EWGA! In addition to this newsletter, we communicate through the EWGA Facebook Page, EWGA emails,
and Golf Genius. We don’t want our members to miss out on anything! And, finally, the next round of Solheim Ranking events will be held on May 16th and 18th.
May the course be with you,
Stacie Trier, Publicity
What a great time we had at our Member-Member event! It was fun to see how we all looked with wet hair on the final
day! The decorations were so cleverly created to support the ENGA "It's Always Tee Time" theme. We have some creative members and a special thanks to Marci Watson's husband for his contribution.

Nine Hole Golf Association Rules
Etiquette
1. As the group ahead tees off, remain quiet and still until the last person has hit her ball. Do not hit your tee shot until the foursome has hit its second shot and is out of range. Player should never hit the ball to the green while the group in front is within range. Wait until all players are well off the green.
2. It is often easy to hit another person's ball by mistake. Each player must identify her ball before hitting.
3. If a divot is taken on the fairway shot or anywhere else, replace it immediately or apply sand as provided. Scarring occurs quickly if the turf is not packed back down after a shot.
4. If walking and carrying a golf bag, be sure to leave the bag well of the putting surface.
5. As unobtrusively as possible, player not putting should line up her putt so when her turn arrives she can step up to the ball immediately. When everyone has putted, leave the
green immediately. Mark scorecard upon arrival at the next tee box.
Standing Rules 1. A player who picks up on any hole and records a 10X on her scorecard is eliminated from the game of the day. However, the score must be recorded for handicap purposes.
2. On all regular play days, all players must hole the ball. Gimmes (a grip length) may be given. Gimmes count as a single stroke. On tournament days, puts must be putted out. No
gimmes. 3. After hitting two balls into the water, the player may carry a ball around the water, adding another stroke.

March and April was a huge smash with the NEW WILSON CLASH Racket! You have to check it
out and come Demo it…new tech, new colors, new feel. It has been a hit by all so don’t miss out!
NEWS! NEWS! NEWS! Courts 3 and 4 are being resurfaced. In late May or June there will be
courts down for resurfacing so please check for courts as we will have 2 less every day for a week
or 10 days and we want everyone to enjoy their tennis experience. We are excited to see this
continued progress for improvement and we can thank Chris Stewart for his continued effort to
help us utilize our budgets for continued success!
Also returning in May is Seth Harris to a Full Time Pro Position as well as Greyson McCarthy
returning for the summer and beyond so lets welcome these guys to the club! We look forward to
having 5 full time pros at your disposal as Brent and Lukas both work on their USPTA certifications,
but rest assured they are both Eye Coach Certified and I have trained them for current lessons…this certification is all but a formality!

NOTE: No Events in May due to court resurfacing…not sure when complete so not able to
put anything on the books until sure. However, the EWTA has 2 events we know will be
smaller than 8 courts so look to post their events.
Greetings from the board of EWTA! We just wrapped up our Spring board
meeting and there are so many activates to get to know your fellow tennis
players while having a blast doing it!
May 1st we will have a “Cinco de Mayo” party with margaritas and Mexican food.
All players are welcome to come. This is marking the end of the Spring TCD
season and held on the beautiful tennis patio.
On June 21st we will have a pool party/social at the home of Elizabeth Reeves.
There will be more details to come about that event. We are hoping to go to
cardio tennis all together and then take golf carts over to the party.
If you would like to join EWTA there are forms in the pro shop. It is only $40
and it more than pays for itself with all the fun events we have throughout the
year. Our biggest event of the year is our Christmas Party. This year it will be
Wednesday, December 4 at Eldorado Country Club.
EWTA is also in talks with the Pros about a possible summer league for those
wanting to venture into the heat and play. We will keep you updated on the
status of getting that going. As always if you have any questions please feel free
