THIS FRIDAY AT THE STEEPLEGATE
Foundation Chair PDG Chris Knapp asks that we post these Foundation Minutes
FOUNDATION MINUTE
Now that the holiday season is upon us – many of us are scurrying around trying to find the best gift for our families, our neighbors, teachers and more. Here is an idea that will save all of you a great deal of time and give you an enormous feeling of satisfaction! In place of that gift, why not give the gift of Rotary through The Rotary Foundation? A $100 contribution can help provide textbooks for one elementary school in Zambia, provide a hearing aid for a deaf child in Pakistan, buy de-worming tablets for 112 children in the Philippines, pay for cataract operations for three blind people in India, or provide 230 blankets for the elderly in the winter months of Korea! And there are many more opportunities even within our own coun-try!
For more information contact The Rotary Foundation at 866-976-8279. Thank you for your gen-erosity.
GMOC Letter from Robbinah
Dear God’s Mercy Orphanage Centre Sponsors.
Happy Thanks Giving Day. I hope you had a good one with friends and Family.
In Uganda we do not have a thanks giving Holiday. However Christians are encouraged to follow the Bible teaching found in the book
of Deuteronomy 16:10-12 and give a free will offering to the Lord thanking HIM for the blessings that HE has given us at any time of
the year. In Kisoro, January –February harvest offering is a big event in all Anglican, Catholic and Pentecostal Churches.
I want to sincerely thank you for fulfilling your commitment to Sponsoring your child(ren) for another year 2019. Sponsorship Funds
reached GMOC Bank Account on 19-11-2018. Thank you very for the birthday, and Christmas gifts to your children. Thank you for
contributing money towards GMOC Annual Christmas Party. In Kisoro, dressing up in new attire on Christmas day is a big deal for
both the young and old. The gifts that you give to your children make them look exceptionally smart on Christmas day and during our
Christmas Party. I have no right words to explain to you how our children feel happy when we go shopping for the new clothes and
shoes. GMOC Christmas party is not only for the children but also for their caretakers. Over the years I have been having a big challenge
of having un invited guests force their way to our party, but Glory be to God for the security fence that Kewaane Rotary Club built for
us, we hope to minimize or reduce to zero the un invited guests. We have no gate yet, but we intend to put a security guard for the day,
so that he can push away people trying to force themselves in our premises. We have to look for one who is very strong otherwise he will
be wrestled down. This might sound funny, but that is the truth. 2017 Christmas Party, I was thrown to the ground as I attempted to
serve biscuits to our children. Everyone wants to have a share of the free special meal of meat and Rice, and wash it down with a free
bottle of soda.
We are equally excited to cook from our new kitchen that NorthScott Rotary Club built for us. No more worries about cooking from
outdoors where on a bad weather day, things could go messy. We have surely had a successful year. Lots of good things have happened
to GMOC,and all has been possible because of you our dear Sponsors. Our only major setback so far has been the dropping out of school
of one young boy called Mathius. His Sponsor Carole and Jack Ferry were shattered, so was I and Merle Anderson. We Pray to God that
such thing never happens to us again.
Our children break off for the Christmas Holidays in a week’s time. Currently they are writing their end of year Promotional examina-
tions. Before 15-12-2018 I will have sent you their end of term three report cards and a letter. Look out for a detailed 2018 Newsletter
anytime in January 2019.
God Bless,
Robbinah Hakiza.
