Electricity (Licensing) AmendmentRegulations 2012

Made by the Governoi , in Executive Council.

1. Citation

These regulations are the Electricil}' (Licensing) AmendmentRegulations 2012.

2. Commencement

i llese re^,ulations come into operation as follows

(a) regulations I and 2— on the day on which theseregulations are published in the Gazette;

(b) the rest of the re^pulations on the day after that day.

3. Rer;uhutions amended

These regulations amend the Eleclrici4' (Licensing)

Regulations 1991.

4. Regulation 3 amended

(1) In regulation 3 (1) insert in alphabetical order:

copy. in relation to a notice of completion or electricalsafety certificate, means a hard copy or an electroniccopy;

in-House electrical iiistallinq work has the meaninggiven by regulation 37(2) and (3);

in-House electrical installin work licence means alicence to carry out in-house electrical installing work;

(2) In regulation 3(1) in the definition of electrical worker delete "aperson" and insert:

an individual

(3) In regulation 3(1) in the definition of licence delete "a licence tocarry out electrical work that is in-house electrical installin(Twork for the purposes of Part 4;" and insert:

an in -house electrical installing work licence;

5. Regulation 4A .amended

After regulation 4A(1) insert:

(2A) However the definition of electrical work does notinclude ork on components of a motor vehicle, asdefined in the Road Traffic Act 1974 section 5(1). thatoperate on direct current.

6. Regulation 3S amended

In regulation 35 delete " licence referred to in regulation 37."and insert:

licence.

7. Regulation 49 amended

(1) In regulation 49(1):

(a) delete "A" and insert:

(b) in paragraph (b) delete "time." and insert:

ti me; and

(c) after paragraph (h) insert:

(c) the standards specified in Schedule 2 asamended from time to time.

(2) Delete regulation 49(2).

(3) After regulation 49(2a) insert:

(2B) An amendment published by Standards Australia to astandard referred to in subregulation (1)(a) or (c) doesnot have effect for the purposes of that subregulationuntil 6 months after the day on which it is published.

(2) If a code or standard referred to in subregulation (1)(a)or (c) is inconsistent •ith the W A ElectricalRequirements, the W A Electrical Requirementsprevail to the extent of the inconsistency.

8. Regulation 52 amended

(1) In regulation 52(3) after "completed" insert:

in accordance with regulations 49 and 49B

(2) In regulation 52(4) and (5)(c) delete " this regulation," andinsert:

subregulations (1) and (la).

9. Regulation 52C' .amended

Delete regulation 52C(1) and insert:

(1) An electrical contractor who dories out electricalinstalling•ork, or causes electrical installin g; work tohe carried out. must ensure that -

(a) any electrician employed or engaged by theelectrical contractor to carry out any of theelectrical installin g, work-

(i) has had appropriate training: and

(ii) holds a current licence; and

(iii) is competent to carry out the work:

and

(b) when the electrical instullin work iscompleted -

(i) it is checked and tested; and

(ii) the electrical installation is safe to use;

and

(c) the electrical installing work is completed to atrade finish.

10. Schedule 2 inserted

After Schedule I insert:

Made by the Governor in Executive Council.

1. Citation

These regulations are the Electricity (Supply Standards andSystem Sateij) Amendment Regulations 2012.

2. Commencement

These regulations come into operation as follows

(a) regulations I and 2 — on the day on •hich theseregulations are published in the Gazette;

(h) the rest of the regulations — on the day after that day.

3. Regulations amended

These regulations amend the Electricity (Supply Standards andSystem Safety) Regulations 2001.
