There are various steps involved in the management of e-
resources

Introduction (Continue…) There are tools to manage above mentioned process of e-
resources, is called Electronic Resource Management
Systems which is useful tool for librarians.
The library automation softwares are not capable enough to
handle management of eResources in an effective or holistic
way.
ERMS entered the market in early 2000s.
Digital Library Federation (DLF) E-Resource Management
Initiative (ERMI) Launched in 2002.
Objective of DLF-ERMI –
Was to develop a common specification and tools for
managing the license, administrative process and internal
information associated with collection of licensed eResources.

In 2018, one survey on “Librarian’s Perception on Adoption and Use of Electronic Resource Management System : A Survey of University Libraries in Gujarat” has been conducted.
Questionnaire were sent to 50 Institution/ University Libraries of Gujarat.
Total 30 responses were received.
Participated Libraries were having diversified electronic contents as part of their eCollection. i.e. eJournals, eBooks, eTheses and Dissertations, CD/ DVDs etc.
Mostly eCollections were processed/ managed by Acquisition Dept. i.e. 13 (43%) followed by Serials Dept. 9 (30%).
Upon asking how eResources are managed currently, It was managed Manually, emails, IR software, Library management software, consortium, IP based, through storage media etc.

To sum up ERMS is going to be an inevitable part of university
libraries in future.
Each ERM tools have different features andfunctionality.
We can manage eResources effectively and efficientlyusing ERMS.
ERM Tools have capability to Store, retrieve andcompare License agreements.
Help us in analyzing the cost per use.
It serve as a single platform for managing alleResources.
Renewal alert notification through email.
We can create A-Z list of all eJournals
Same the time of staff.
