 About us

 Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) is a Not‐for‐Profit Organization, registered under the Indian Companies Act, 1956. The Council has been promoted by Five Associations:

CEAMA - Consumer Electronics and Durables sector. ELCINA - Electronics and IT manufacturers IESA - Electronics & Semiconductor Association IPCA - PCB technology MAIT - Computer hardware, training and software industries.

Financial support is by : National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

ESSCI is focussed on establishing an effective and efficient ecosystem for developing and imparting of outcome-oriented skills for the Electronics Systems, Design and Manufacturing Industry (ESDM).

ESSCI is responsible for standardization, accreditation and certification processes to enhance the employability of the Indian workforce globally.

ESSCI’s target is to train 8,500 trainees in FY14 and 2 million trainees on cumulative basis by 2022.

ESSCI with help of consultant IMaCS has prepared National Occupational Standards (NOS) for 5 high priority Job Roles.

 

This first batch of QPs and NOSs have been approved by NSDC.

Shri. P Chidambaram, Minister for Finance, Government of India has released the CDs of our QPs/ NOSs during the launch of National Skill Certification & Monetary Reward Scheme on 16th August 2013 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, in the presence of Shri Jairam Ramesh (Minister for Rural Development), Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia (Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission) and Shri. S. Ramadorai (Chairman, NSDC)

Rural penetration of consumer durables has seen a significant upward trend. 

TV penetration has moved from around 31 per cent in 2007 to 39.8 per cent in 2010.

Digital TV penetration in rural India is higher than in urban areas, says a report compiled by the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) .

Hence huge demand for Job Roles like Television Repair Technician & Set Top Box Installer and Service Technician.

Up skilling Rural India

ESSCI is aiming at creating a workforce empowered with improved skills and increasing the productivity of workforce in the unorganized sector & increasing participation of youth .

ESSCI courses specially designed for BPL people and students who are 10th Pass/10+2 Pass.

ESSCI affiliating training partners that assure at least 70% placement and have Pan-India presence.

ESSCI through training provider will encourage students for Self- employment options. NSDC has tie-up with SBI to facilitate Loans.

Indian Electronics and IT Hardware sector production amounted to $20 billion in 2009 and the import of electronic items was $40 billion.

The thrust is on service of TVs, refrigerators and tablets as demanded by rural India today. Hence ESSCI is working on following NOSs:

IT Hardware & Networking Engineer Air- conditioning & Refrigeration Technician Inverter Repair Technician Electronic Product Testing Technician Solar Panels Installation Technician

ESSCI is also working on manufacturing oriented Job Roles for rural youth to support existing and new manufacturing units.
