EDUCATE • DEVELOP • MENTOR • EMPOWER

The Jewell Jackson McCabe Emerging Leaders Institute, Inc.

(ELI) develops global leaders for the 21st Century. Through an

intense program that specifically focuses on progression and

succession techniques, ELI trains women to enumerate their

goals and professional objectives, develop an image consistent

with those objectives, utilize management techniques most

suited for their personalities, and harness their individual power to achieve success in their chosen profession.

The Jewell Jackson McCabe Emerging Leaders Institute, Inc.

(ELI) is committed to developing a diverse organization that

fosters creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit by

enriching the lives of women through leadership opportunities,

personal and professional learning, and cultural experiences.

We empower women to contribute to society as global leaders.

ELI is a non-profit organization formed June 23, 2008, and

named in honor of Jewell Jackson McCabe, a successful

businesswoman; national women’s rights leader; presidential,

gubernatorial, and mayoral appointee; and founder of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.

ELI is comprised of five core divisions: Leadership, Young 100, Apprentice, TIFFANY, and

Shadow. Members who participate in and experience all division curricula achieve the full benefit of the ELI experience.

Message from the President On behalf of the Board of Directors, Division Directors, and Faculty, it gives me great pleasure

to congratulate and welcome the newest members of the Jewell Jackson McCabe Emerging

Leaders Institute, Inc. (ELI)! The twenty-six women who completed the Leadership, Young

100, and Shadow programs are extremely dedicated and motivated women who have

demonstrated their commitment to becoming effective leaders by embracing the new paradigm

as put forth by the Center for University of California, Berkley Executive Education: “today’s

emerging leaders need to have an authentic awareness of themselves and the capacity to influence others in a mutually beneficial manner”.

Ladies, as you progress throughout your careers, you will be presented with formal and

informal opportunities to lead groups of various size and demographics. Embrace these

opportunities because you will be successful as long as you remember to be yourself.

Authenticity, hard work, and dedication will overcome even the most jaded audience. Go forth

with purpose: educate, develop, mentor, empower.

Lynita M. Mitchell-Blackwell, Esq.
