OverviewWhile using the Michigan eLibrary students can access videos, e-Books, full articles from newspapers, magazines, and journals. They can also access audio files, graphics, and much more. Publications are updated promptly while thousands of new images are added daily.

School Research eLibrary is an amazing resource for school

research and development. There are many resources to be utilized such as reference

searches, time ranges, and publications which will all be covered in this PowerPoint.

Home Page

From the home page, students can search many topics from many different types of resources such as audio

and video files on topics like global warming.

TopicAfter choosing a topic to research, all you have to

do is type your topic into the search bar and check the boxes of the resources you’d like.

Types of ResultsAfter the search results have loaded, you’ll notice

that there are different pictures to the side of each result. Each picture stands for the different

types of sources that are available to you. For example, an Ipod stands for audio and video files

while a camera stands for photographs.

Refine Your SearchIf you know you’re looking for news paper articles

in particular eLibrary offers an option bring certain types of media to the top of your search

bar.

Time Range?eLibrary also offers the option of selecting the

date range of your search results. For example, if you’re researching 9/11 you’d most likely want

articles from after September 11, 2011.

More InformationWith popular search topics such as Global

Warming, eLibrary offers a box at the top of the results page with a gallery of related photos,

debates about the topic, and also related links to help in your research.

eLibrary also offers a reference tab at the top of the page so students may search items such as

dictionaries, almanacs, and atlas’.

PublicationsThere’s also a publications tab which can be used

to search the 2618 different publications that eLibrary has to offer. For example, you could

search for Time Magazine and every issue since 2000 would appear.

Popular Searches

eLibrary has a feature that shows popular search topics. Click on the popular search tab and it

shows popular research topics that are trending right now.

Advanced SearcheLibrary also offers an advanced search option. In this option you can customize everything in

your search from the reading level to the document language. Advanced search is a great

tool if you know exactly what you need.
