ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

A. All entries, except for the KBP Lifetime Achievement Award, must have been aired between January 1 to December 31, 2017.

B. All entries must have been aired in KBP member stations.

C. Entries which have been cited for violation of the KBP Radio and TV Code between January 1 to December 31, 2017 are automatically disqualified.

D. All programs and materials must be produced by Filipinos using Filipino talents.

E. Only Filipinos will be considered for the individual and personality award categories.

F. Entries for Best Programs (Radio) must be at least 30 minutes long, except for Best Newscast, which should be at least 15 minutes long.

G. Entries for Best Programs (Television) must be at least 30 minutes long, except for Best

TV Variety Program, which should be at least 60 minutes long.

H. An entry submitted in one category may not be submitted in another category. The Board of Judges may re-classify an entry to another category which it deems more appropriate.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A. Entries to the Golden Dove Awards may be submitted by KBP members.

B. Entries should be submitted using the Golden Dove Awards Official Entry or Nomination Form in five (5) copies. One form should be used for each entry. There are different forms for the Lifetime Achievement Award, Ka Doroy Broadcaster of the Year Award, the Best Program Category Awards, Best Personality Awards, Best Public Service Announcement, and Best Station Promotional Material.

Copies of the entry forms are available from the KBP National Office. They will also be made available at the Golden

Dove Awards website (to be announced).

C. An entry submitted under one category may not be submitted in another category.

D. Entries for Best TV Station, Best AM Station, and Best FM Station must be accompanied with the following:

1. A 30-minute video (for TV) or audio (for radio) presentation justifying why the station should be given the award

2. Written profile and program schedule of the station with a description of each program

E. Entries for Best Personalities and Best Programs must be accompanied with a representative sample of actual programs broadcast during the period being considered. Additional samples may be required. The samples must be submitted in audio CD-Mp3 format (for radio) and VCD, DVD-Mp4 format (for television) in three (3) copies.

F. Entries for Best Public Service Announcement (PSA) and Best Station Promotional Material must be accompanied by samples of the actual material in CD-Mp3 format (for radio) and VCD or DVD-Mp4 format (for television) in three (3) copies.

G. Entries of programs and materials originally in the local dialect should be accompanied by translation in Pilipino or English

H. Registration fee per entry for TV – P1,000.00 and Radio – P500.00

KBP LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The KBP Lifetime Achievement Award is given to prominent senior individuals who have held key positions in the broadcast media or in related fields. To qualify for the award, an individual must have:

1. Significantly contributed to the advancement of the broadcast media

2. Consistently demonstrated a high standard of excellence and professionalism in his or her work

KA DOROY BROADCASTER OF THE YEAR AWARD

This award is named after the late Teodoro Valencia, one of the highly-respected media person in the 60’s and 70’s. Ka Doroy was one of the earliest leaders of the KBP. As a

radio broadcaster, he emphasized diligence and hard work as qualities of the professional media person. He exhorted younger broadcasters to pursue the high ideals of their profession. The Ka Doroy Broadcaster of the Year Award is given to broadcast professionals who have shown exemplary performance in both their work and personal conduct. To qualify for this award, a broadcaster must:

1. Attain prominence as a respectable broadcast media professional

2. Achieve a reputation for hard work, moral integrity, and personal commitment to his craft

3. Consistently demonstrate a high standard of excellence in performing his job

4. Conscientiously observe the code of ethics for the broadcast media

CRITERIA FOR BEST STATIONS(The same set of criteria will be applied in judging the Best TV Station, Best AM Station, and Best FM Station).

1. Informs and educates as much as it entertains the audience

2. Reflects in its programming the interests of a wide range of audience in the community

3. Promotes values which contribute to positive social change

a. Reflects the interests of the community in its entirety and covers a broad range of topics relevant to the community

b. Demonstrates balance and fairness in its treatment of the news, shows multiple viewpoints, and avoids bias

c. Provides depth and context to its news stories

d. Demonstrates enterprise in getting the news and relies on multiple sources for news stories

e. Demonstrates creativity and excellence in production

2. BEST PUBLIC AFFAIRS PROGRAM

b. Places the highest value on facts rather than suppositions and speculations as the basis of discussions

c. Fairly represents opposing or contrasting sides of an issue and provides perspective and context to different views
