To use the elimination method ;1. Write the equations in the same form.

2. Eliminate one of the unknowns:If the similar terms have opposite coefficients, add the two equations.If the similar terms have different coefficients, multiply one or both of the equations by a number (or numbers) to make the coefficients of one pair of similar terms opposites, then add.

3. Simplify to find the value of the remaining unknown .4. Substitute the value of the unknown found in step 3 to either of the two original equations and solve for the other unknown .
