• Look anywhere online at images showing the killing, torture and imprisonment of women, homosexuals, bisexual and transgender people and you will feel disgust. The vast majority of these assaults are carried out in the name of religion or, perhaps I should say, religious power. The powers that be use God’s words and laws as threats. As these strike fear into and threaten the lives of so many people, I finally decided to make the journey to the most holy of cities, Jerusalem, where the three religions of Judaism, Islam and Christianity meet. While I was there, I wanted to draw attention to the texts that lie behind the threat to the very existence of myself and so many others.
