GIEU (Global Intercultural Experience for Undergraduates), January 2009-September 2009

Student Scholar• Planned a lesson and taught primary school students in Ghana about the importance of hand washing and germtransmission. Taught an entire school of 200 students and washed every students’ hands.

• Observed in three hospitals in three cities in Ghana, watched how nurses work and are trained and noteddifferences between Ghana and the US.

• Volunteered in an orphanage helping children with schoolwork and donated supplies to help with school cost.• Presented research and details about the trip, about Ghanaian culture, health care and education in a symposium

to hundreds of students and faculty.
