I was engaged in 2012 as a member of the des ign team undertak ing fu l l archi tec tura l serv ices ; inc luding br ie f ing, master p lanning,

in Per th Ci ty.
Dur ing ear ly des ign s tages a h igh leve l o f c l ient consul ta t ion was undertaken on th is pro jec t . I was involved in the p lanning and management o f numerous working group sess ions he ld wi th key s takeholders to ident i fy the operat ional and funct ional requirements o f the new fac i l i ty, as wel l as the presenta t ion of extens ive research undertaken es tabl i sh ing the conceptua l des ign f ramework.
Susta inable and innovat ive des ign pr inc ip les were adopted to enhance the qual i ty and durabi l i ty o f workplaces inc luding maximis ing the amount o f natura l l ight into a l l working areas, maximis ing the e f f ic iency of p lanning and des igning an overa l l f i t for purpose adminis t ra t ive fac i l i ty wi th future growth potent ia l .
A key dr iver was the creat ion of perce ived t ransparency between publ ic and secure zones to re inforce the welcoming and informal nature of th is court . As a s igni f icant Sta te pro jec t , i t was cr i t ica l to ensure the mater ia l i ty a l so made re ference to p lace and the unique phys ica l and cul tura l a t t r ibutes o f Western Austra l ia .
S imple rec t i l inear bui ld ing e lements were adopted to ass i s t construct ion and helped to de l iver an economica l

To encourage an environment o f warmth and comfort as wel l as ce lebrate the karr i fores ts unique to the Sta te, media t ion rooms can be cons idered spaces o f she l ter and secur i ty which s i t wi th in the ‘ fores t canopy’ .

Campus Masterplan and Implementat ion of Stage 1, 2 + 3Primary and Senior School Constructed on a Greenf ie ld Site
M other Teresa School is a new Primary and Secondary fac i l i ty constructed on a 22ha greenf ie ld ex-farming and wet lands
s i te. The project i s being sequentia l ly implemented over a 10 year program fol lowing a winning masterplan submiss ion. Stage 1 was constructed in 2014 and Stage 2 is to be completed in January 2016.
The Masterplan i s des igned around a Community Court wi th p lay spaces surrounding. The interna l env ironments are a ser ies o f l arge, open learning areas pa i red wi th shared fac i l i t ies. Each pair ing has d i rec t access to the courtyard and a unique learning garden where fur ther d iscover ies can occur.
Natura l mater ia l s have been se lec ted to create warmth and tac t i l i ty which encourages s tudents to touch and engage. A s imple pa le t te of natura l , se l f - f in ished mater ia l s was se lec ted to reduce l i fe t ime maintenance inc luding rammed ear th l imestone, t imber and z inc c ladding. These natura l e lements are cont inued to ex terna l nature p lay areas. Where poss ib le mater ia l s used are nat ive to the s i te.
My involvement on the pro jec t inc luded draf t ing and presenta t ion of the winning masterplan submiss ion and Contract Adminis t ra t ion ass i s tance throughout Stage 2 o f the pro jec t . This inc luded a id ing the management o f spec ia l i s t consul tants, dra f t ing ins t ruct ions, s i te inspect ions and loose furni ture schedul ing and procurement .
Within each Learning Area is a smaller Learning Pod. The Pod is a physically different space,
scaled down to provide a place for children to work independently, gather in small groups, or sit and reflect.
