TRANSCRIPT
I will miss the 2017 senior class and their leadership
within the building. It is exciting to see emerging lead-
ers and students who finally take risks to join or belong
to an event or an activity that stretches them. I tell our
seniors that it is ok to be uncomfortable, in fact, get
used to it and thrive in those situations. The seniors
had a celebration breakfast last week, Foundation
Scholarship breakfast and the beginning of the end
when it comes to testing. They tell me that they are
ready to go– I believe them. Parents, if we did our work
with our students, they should be talking about the next
step in their lives, which means……. they are ready.
The 2016-2017 school year has been exciting; the level
of engagement by our students is truly remarkable.
The junior and senior students who signed up for the
Advanced Placement tests are preparing for AP tests
and finals so they are maintaining an appropriate level
of seriousness despite 13 days of school left for the
seniors. Our attendance rates stayed consistent
around the mid-nineties and the activities provided an-
other engaging activity to connect with our school.
With the calendar shifting to May, our students are look-
ing forward to summer break. April was a very im-
portant assessment month. The juniors completed the
Nebraska State Assessment in the form of the ACT
College Test. The students should receive their scores
before the end of the school year. Be sure to check the
ACT website for information regarding your student’s
scores. The 9th and 10th graders completed the Pre
ACT which will serve as baseline information for the
next two years.
Elkhorn High School would like to thank our teachers
who are leaving EHS after years of service to our
students: French teacher Pam Kooiker, FCS teacher
Barb Swarthout, Science teacher Craig Vinopal, Media
Specialist Stephanie Jenkins, and Math teacher Allison
Hajek will remain a teacher at ESHS full time. It was
truly a privilege to work with these teachers as they
served their school district and students with profes-
sionalism and sound instruction. Their work with our
students has meaning and lasting value. I wanted to
publically thank you for committing your time to public
education and spending time with our students in the
classroom and in special education.
As a reminder, Honors Night is Wednesday, May 17,
2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Parents, please
encourage your student to attend this final ceremony
acknowledging academic excellence. We have plenty of
students to acknowledge. All National Honor Society
students are expected to attend. Teachers will be
contacting individual students to remind them to attend
the ceremony and to tell their proud parents about the
award.
Graduation will be held Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 4:00
p.m. in the EHS gymnasium. Please join us at the hon-
ors night and graduation ceremony to recognize the ac-
ademic accomplishments of our students. Seniors
should arrive for graduation no later than 3:00 p.m. on
Sunday, May 21 in the auxiliary gym. Please remember
that graduation is a ceremony; therefore, please refrain
from bringing artificial noise makers that would detract
from the audience hearing another graduate’s name as
he/she receives his/her diploma.
Seniors will be taking their finals for periods 5, 6, and 7
on Tuesday, May 16 and finals for periods 1, 2, 3, and
4 on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. We will have a senior

will turn in their completed senior checkout sheets to
receive their cap and gown for graduation. Seniors will
be released around 2:15 on Wednesday, May 17.
EHS students will be dismissed for final testing at
12:55 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24 and at 11:45 a.m.
on Thursday, May 25, 2017. EHS will not be serving
lunch on either day. The last school day is Thursday,
May 25.
Report cards will be mailed home around May 30.
I want to thank the parents for supporting their stu-
dents and teachers during this 2016-2017 year.
I look forward to August and hope that our Elkhorn
High School families have a safe and exciting summer.
Please feel free to contact me at [email protected]

Senior News
Senior Exit Information: A letter was sent home in
April to all seniors. Seniors were asked to return a
sheet asking about future plans, final transcripts and
scholarships by April 14th. Additional scholarships
received after this date can still be turned into
Mrs. Dowd in case there is still time to be pub-
lished in the graduation program. Please also
bring in a PHOTOCOPY of any scholarship award
letters you have received to Mrs. Dowd. These can
be emailed to [email protected]. Also, final tran-
scripts must be sent to the student’s college of choice.
If a student changes their college choice during the
summer, email or leave a voicemail for Mrs. Frevert
([email protected] )and she will send a transcript.
College Credits Earned: If a senior has earned col-lege credits either through dual credit opportunities or AP test scores, the student is responsible for complet-ing the correct paperwork to have their college credits transferred to the college they plan to attend.
When completing the AP test, students will be able to indicate which college scores should be sent. Scores will be sent to colleges in late July. Contact www.collegeboard.com if college choice changes.
If your student was enrolled in a class for dual enrollment, contact the appropriate college for dual credit transcripts.
