Hot Pot Luck welcomes our first meeting of the season.By Ann Williams

Happy Days are Here Again! Our September Pot Luck will now feature hot dishes along with the cold salads that have been the cornerstone of the past two years.

Your challenge is to resurrect that favorite pot luck recipe to contribute to our supper at the Senior Center starting at 6:30 pm on September 6. Hostesses, Jean McGrath, Kathie Stupinski and Denise Archibald will provide dessert.

See you there with a variety of tasty hot and cold items to tempt the appetite.

Please bring serving utensils ifyour dish requires same.

The collection of food for the summer was up and down—in June we received 47 lbs. of food (no paper products), in July there were 32 lbs. of food with bath tissues, and in August only 19 lbs. of food and 18 rolls of bath tissues.

The Pink Box will be in the Senior Center from Tuesday, September 5 until the end of our meeting on Wednesday, September 6. As well as canned goods, cereals, and dessert mixes, the pantries greatly need paper products and cleaning supplies as these items cannot be purchased with food stamps.

I have thank you notes from the pantries which will be read at the meeting. I thank you, too. It’s been the tradition of our club to participate in the

Member SpotlightBy Chellah Misiko

Maintaining Veteran MonumentsBy Pat Tardif

I would like to introduce a new part of our newsletter called the "Member Spotlight". We will learn about our very own members, what they have done in their lives, and with their families. We would like to celebrate what we have accomplished and see where we are headed in our goals for the future. We will feature a member in each of our newsletters starting in October. Please send me an email or letter about yourself when you are ready and I will turn it into an article for the newsletter then forward it to our EWC Newsletter Editor, Joan Robinson.

My email address: [email protected]

This summer the veteran monuments were maintained by Ann Berak, Carol Hagopian, Kristen Ulrich, Janet Savignano, Chellah Misiko, and Annette Ouellet. Members can sign up to water and weed for the weeks of September at the September meeting. We will put the gardens to bed for the winter the beginning of October. Members who have volunteered for October will be listed in that month’s newsletter. (I will have the sign up clip board at the September meeting.)

A survey was emailed to members in the summer to gauge our fundraiser and see what we have for ideas for a future fundraiser. We tested the questions based on our previous dance fundraiser with hor d’oeuvres. Out of 26 members, only 9 members responded to this survey; which equals 33% of club members. Below are the results from the nine respondents.

Question: “How likely is it that you would recommend the fundraiser dance with hor d’oeuvres as an annual event to a friend or colleague?”

Answer: 80% of respondents gave it a 10 with only 20% giving it a 2 or a 1, with 10 meaning that they were extremely likely to recommend the event.

Question: “Overall, how would you rate the event?”

Answer: 50% said it was excellent, 15% said it was very good, and 35% said that it was good.

Question: “What did you like about the event?”

Answer: The music, the facility, the setting, and a good turnout. Engaging, relaxing and a fun night.

Question: “What did you dislike about the event?”

Answer: The food and that it was too little. The bar drinks were too high.

Question: How organized was the event?

Answer: 33% said it was extremely organized, very organized and organized.

Question: “What price point per person is good for our fundraiser?”

Answer: 85% said that $25 was a good price point. 15% said that $20 was a good price point.

100% of the respondents said that the location of the dance, Ellington Ridge Country Club, was a good place to hold our event.

The participation of members in future events was evenly spread between baking goods, publicity, decorating, selling tickets, taking tickets at the door and joining the fundraising committee.

Suggestions for future events included a pancake breakfast at the senior center and providing better food.

We will discuss what all this means at our September meeting.
