she has help us a lot in completing this assignment. When facing with problems, she

guide me through it. she teach me a lot about this assignement during class and

style at the sentences level. %n grammar , a part of speech also a word class,

a le#ical class, or a le#ical category is a linguistic category of words or more

precisely le#ical items, which is generally defined by

the syntacticor morphological behaviour of the le#ical item in question. &ommon

linguistic categories include noun and verb, among others. here are open word

classes, which constantly acquire new members, and closed word classes, which

acquire new members infrequently if at all.

$lmost all languages have the le#ical categories "oun and 'erb, but beyondthese there are significant variations in different languages. (or

e#ample, )apanese has as many as three classes of adjectives where English has

described as a sentence or a clause unless at least one of the words is a verb. %n

some ways, we can describe it as the most important part of speech because it is the

-action- word that tells the listener or reader what is happening in the sentence. 'erbs

can be /action0 words like run,initiate, judge, throw, but they can also denote less

active notions and have more to do with mental processes and perceptions,

like see, know, think and so on.

!ecoundly, he noun. $ noun is a word which is used to denote a person 1 traffic

warden, woman, Prime 2inister, pianist etc.3, a concrete or abstract entity

1binoculars, fork, field, truth, incoherence etc.3 or a place 1office, garden, railway

station3. hese are allcommon nouns* there are also proper nouns which are the

names of a specific person, place, event etc., usually starting with a capital letter, for

e#ample, 4ork, )ohn, &hristmas, !aturday. $ noun can be e#tended to a noun

phrase. %n the e#ample phrases given below, the noun 1in the first e#ample3 and the

noun phrase 1in the remaining e#amples3 is in bold. "ote how much the noun phrase

can be e#tended by adding e#tra information each time.

hird is the adjective. $n adjective gives the reader or speaker e#tra information

about a noun or delimits it in some way. %t can occur in two positions in a phrase5

before the noun as in clear water, beautiful beaches, a terrible decision. he

adjectives in these e#amples are said to be attributive, following any form of the

verb be 1e.g. am, is, was, been3 and similar verbs 1seem, appear, become3 as in the

water became clear, the beaches are beautiful. hese adjectives are

in predicative position.

"e#t is pronoun. Pronouns are usually treated as a special subclass of nouns.

his is because they stand in for a noun or group of nouns. hey are limited

in number and belong to what is called a closed set , that is, a group of

words to which new members are, for practical purposes, not allowed. !ome

e#amples of pronouns are5 I , you , he,she, our , its, something , anyone and

so on. hus, instead of saying, Bill’s arrived. Bill’s in the lounge , we

prefer Bill’s arrived. He’s in the lounge. 6r a person called for you *

better would be someone called for you . here are several other words

which fall into this class* for e#ample (the) one(s), when used to

replace dishes in the e#ample5 pass me the dishes - the ones on the top

shelf .

$fter that let we see the adverbs. he traditional approach to adverbs has

been to assign mainly those words which are made from adjectives by the

addition of the ending –ly 1quickly , hopelessly 3, plus certain other words

which are difficult to classify, like not , ust and soon. heir main function is

to qualify the action of the verb in the clause in some way, but they can also

be used to add more information to an adjective or other adverbe.g. a!fully good , incredi"ly slo!ly . he class of adverbs is very wide

ranging in form and is used to add comments to many of the other word

classes.

$ museum is an institution that houses and cares

for a collection of artifacts and other objects of scientific, artistic,

or historical importance and makes them available for public viewing

through e#hibits that may be permanent or temporary. 2ost large museums are

located in major cities throughout the world and more local ones e#ist in smaller

cities, towns and even the countryside. he continuing acceleration in

the digitiation of information, combined with the increasing capacity of digital

information storage, is causing the traditional model of museums to e#pand to

include virtual e#hibits and highresolution images of their collections for perusal,

study, and e#ploration from any place with %nternet connectivity.

8uring the long holidays last year, the English Language !ociety organied a

trip to +uala Lumpur. 6ne of the places that we visited was the "ational 2useum.

hirthynine members of the society went there and three teachers accompanied us.

We boarded the bus at ninethirty that night and reached +uala Lumpur at seven

thirty the following morning. $fter having our breakfast and washing up, we headed

for the "ational 2eseum.

"ational 2useum, it had to be the biggest in the country. $ppropriately, it was built

according to tradisional 2alay architecture and was flanked by two gigant coloured

glass murals which depicted historic events and cultural activities in 2alaysia.

We entered the building to look at the e#hibits. We saw displays of photographs

of important events in 2alaysia history such as the signing of treaties, the =ritish

coloniation of 2alaya and her occupation by the )apanese. Photo graphs of people

who had influenced the course of the country0s history could also be seen. here

was also a room where we saw the various type of arts and crafts carried on by

2alaysians, especially the indigenous people. he materials used in these art and

crafts were mostly derived from nature such as dyes and colours obtained from

flowers and crushted rocks, bark, leaves and animal skins. We also saw money an

some ancient weaponds used by 2alaysians long ago. here was also a room

where many animals and birds found in 2alaysia were e#hibited in stuffed from and

where many insects found in the country were displayed and preserved form.
