Only less than a week and we will start the competition days of the EMCup on the 9th and 10th of January! For this reason we would like to inform you about the latest details so that you can come to Amsterdam well prepared.

On Wednesday the 9th of January all teams present their paper by a 1 minute pitch. Please do not forget to prepare this and note that this pitch may not exceed 1 minute and that you cannot use a Powerpoint- or Prezi presentation.

During the case and best idea on the second competition day you are allowed to use a laptop and to consult the internet. Therefore we ask you to bring at least one laptop per

Programme details Arrival On Wednesday the 9th of January we will welcome you at the ‘Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Amsterdam Centraal Station’ (Oosterdoksstraat 4 Amsterdam) between 10.00 and 11.30 o’clock. Here you will need to fill out registration forms for your overnight stay at the

DoubleTree Hotel. The room keys will be handed out to you at a later time. It is only a 5 minute walk from Amsterdam central station to the hotel (A). The map below shows you the directions. We will provide you with a welcome envelope with all necessary information and you can store your luggage at the hotel. Between 10.00 and 11.30, you can

enjoy a welcome drink at the Eastdock Lounge of the DoubleTree Hotel. At 11.30 o’clock we will all walk together to the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam for the special welcome.

Transportation in Amsterdam Going from A to B in Amsterdam goes fast by metro, tram or train. For the public transportation you can buy different kinds of public transportation cards. Best deal in Amsterdam

With a GVB day card you can travel unlimited through Amsterdam – day and night – by bus, tram or metro, for the amount of hours that fits best to your plans.

The card is valid from the first check-in time. These are the different GVB cards you can buy: 24h (1 day) € 7,50 48h (2 days) € 12,- 72h (3 days) € 16,50 96h (4 days) € 21,-

120h (5 days) € 26,- 144h (6 days) € 29,50 168h (7days) € 32,- With these cards you need to check-in and check-out each time you enter or exit the tram, bus or metro. Note: these cards are only valid with GVB, cross

over to Connexxion or EBS is not possible. The transportation cards can be bought at GVB service points, GVB card machines or GWK offices. You can find a GWK office on Schiphol Airport. The GVB service point at Amsterdam central station can be found in the Central Hall.

Planning your transport in Amsterdam

If you want to plan your transport by bus, tram or metro through Amsterdam you can do this via the following website: www.9292.nl/en. It will tell you where to hop

on the bus, tram or metro, where you have to hop off again and how long the walk to your destination will be. If you want to plan your train trip for example when arriving at Schiphol Amsterdam Airport to the Central Station Amsterdam, you can do this via www.ns.nl. Train tickets can be bought at the card machines or the NS service points.

Tips & Tricks in Amsterdam

Once in town, Amsterdam’s charming, compact centre is easy to navigate on

foot or by public transport. Whatever you are looking for, you will find it here. If you have some free time in the evening or during your stay in the city prior to the competition days, we have some tips for you:

Restaurants Humphrey’s

The principle at Humphrey’s is simple a three-course menu at a fixed price. On the menu they have eight starters, nine main courses and eight desserts. Each course you can choose yourself and you pay only € 23,95 in total. There is always a choice of meat, fish and vegetarian.

The aperitif Humphrey’s serves a traditional bread, which you can cut yourself and eat with butter or garlic butter. For the main course, various garnishes are served. These are included in the menu price. Location Spuistraat
