Environment Canada and New Engine Emissions Regulations
• Met with key staff at Environment Canada (EC) throughout 2010
• The new target dates for these regulations are as follows:– Outboard, PWC, and Stern drive/Inboard up to 500 Hp – January1,
2012
– Stern drive/Inboard over 500 Hp - January 1, 2013
– Boat Evaporative Emissions Systems - January 1, 2015
• Regulation published today!

Statistical Abstract for Canada
• Transport Canada has collected registration data dating back to 2006.
• Produce a monthly report outlining– Type of boat; size, propulsion, province
• NMMA Canada will have access to the data in 2011
• NMMA Canada will create a Statistical Abstract for Canadian recreational marine industry by fall 2011
• High level engine statistics will be reported for Canada
Dealer Floorplan Financing
• Canadian government announced:– $500 million towards a new Vehicle and Equipment Financing Partnership (to be run by
Business Development Bank of Canada)
– This program will expand financing options for small and medium-sized finance and leasing companies, increasing the availability of credit at market rates for dealers and users of vehicles and equipment
• They have built it…but will they come????
• Details of program not announced
Trade Opportunities
• Global Opportunities for Associations Program– $2.3 million annual program– NMMA will apply for support of a Trade mission to exploratory markets (Dubai, China,
Europe boat shows)– Government funds up to 50% of the mission
• Free trade agreements being negotiated between Canada and:– Europe – to be implemented by 2012/ 2013– India
• Canada has free trade agreements in place with:– Columbia; Jordon, Panama, Peru
