Emerson Process Management is the first process automation supplier to begin taking orders for WirelessHART™ enabled products, based on the recently approved open standard for in-plant wireless communications. These measurement and communications products are available as a core part of Emerson's Smart Wireless plant automation solutions portfolio. The WirelessHART standard specifies the use of open wireless communications for process measurement and control applications. Emerson Enhances Fisher® Digital Valve Controller for Smart Safety Instrumented Systems

Emerson Process Management has announced enhancements to its SIL 3 certified Fisher® FIELDVUE® DVC6000 digital valve controller for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS). The enhancements help improve reliability, flexibility, and availability of Emergency Shutdown (ESD) valve solutions. The ESD final control system components are integrated with safety-certified sensors and SIL3 rated systems in Emerson’s digital smart SIS solutions. .

The DVC6000 SIS instrument enhancements include manual reset, a stored safety demand event log, pass / fail status after a partial stroke test, and third party certification to SIL3, SIF loop. .

A safety demand event can be stored in the non-volatile memory of the microprocessor and it’s retrievable at any time. This event log is critical for plant personnel, reliability engineers, and auditing authority to properly understand the final element status before and after the trip or demand event. .

After the completion of a partial stroke test, the DVC6000 SIS instrument will provide a pass or fail status along with a signature curve. It will also provide additional diagnostics on stick slip, shaft integrity, and maximum and minimum torque. .

The DVC6000 SIS digital valve controller can operate by an input signal of 0-24VDC, 0-20 mA, or 4-20 mA. The instrument is certified by a third party for its compliance to IEC61508 requirements enabling the device to be suitable for use in SIL3, SIF loop. The instrument is also available in stainless steel constructions for harsh offshore environments and severe service constructions providing remote mount capability and extreme temperature functionality. .

Emerson's smart SIS safety management solution is an extension of its PlantWeb® digital plant architecture, providing an integrated approach to complete safety loops – from sensor to logic solver to final control element. The Emerson SIS solution enables customers to implement safer facilities, improve availability, lower life-cycle costs, and ease regulatory compliance. .

The smart SIS system components include Rosemount and Micro Motion certified and proven-in-use devices, the DeltaV™ SIS system, SIL-PAC final control solution with FIELDVUE DVC6000 SIS controller, and the AMS® Suite: Intelligent Device Manager. .

Emerson Delivers 750,000th Fisher® Smart Digital Valve Controller

Emerson Process Management has announced its delivery of the 750,000th Fisher® FIELDVUE® digital valve controller, marking the continued leadership of Fisher technology in delivering tangible bottom line benefits to end users globally.

The digital valve controllers were introduced by Emerson in 1994 as part of on-going Fisher valve technology development and innovation. As final control elements, valves are crucial to control, while at the same time existing in the harsh process environments and in contact with diverse flowing media. Customers needed better solutions for monitoring and maintenance of the critical equipment. .

Emerson drew upon its valve and instrument expertise to develop the microprocessor-based FIELDVUE instrument that enables users to monitor valve performance on-line, to collect and trend performance data over time, and to better predict or plan valve maintenance. The innovative FIELDVUE instrument is a key component that powers Emerson‘s PlantWeb® digital architecture to deliver savings of more than 30 percent of project costs and greater than 2 percent operations savings.

Through its continuing innovation, Emerson complemented the controllers with Foundation™ fieldbus communications, advanced valve diagnostics, on-line performance diagnostics, and emergency shutdown digital valve controllers for Safety Instrumented System (SIS) applications. Emerson also expanded the use of digital valve controllers into the nuclear market by providing a nuclear certified version and a CSA approved DVC6000 instrument for use with natural gas.

Innovative on-board wiring gland provides integrated single seal solution

Emerson introduces new "energy-responsible" FIELDVUE® instrument approved for natural gas

Emerson Process Management has announced approval of the Fisher® FIELDVUE® DVC6000 digital valve controller for natural gas applications, making the instrument an "energy-responsible" choice for the natural gas industry. The CSA (Canadian Standards Association) approved instrument is designed to help customers improve plant safety. This new design for natural gas applications eliminates the need for an additional seal or an associated wiring termination box, creating an integrated and morecost effective option to actuating the valve assembly.

Natural gas from a process line is often used as a medium to actuate the valve assembly. There has been a growing industry concern regarding natural gas migrating down the associated wiring conduit and exposing people who open junction boxes and other connection points. Attempts by various manufacturers and customers to use conduit glands and seals have provided a stopgap solution. To prevent natural gas from passing into areas not suitable for natural gas, the DVC6000 instrument now provides an integrated solution within the instrument that meets the CSA Single Seal requirements per ANSI/ISA 12.27.01 for applications such as this. Having met the single seal requirements, no secondary seal will be required in Canada..

To further Emerson's "energy-responsible" product, a low bleed relay option is available for the DVC6000 instrument. The low bleed relay reduces bleed rates by up to 1/6 and still operates with superior performance to meet a plant's process control needs. The low bleed option decreases the environmental impact as well as cost of using natural gas as the supply medium.To become CSA approved, the DVC6000 unit had to withstand rigid pressure testing and additional temperature cycle testing from -57° C to 95° C to ensure that no gas would be transmitted through the wiring termination area. The FIELDVUE DVC6000 instrument is currently the only digital valve positioner to be single seal approved by CSA for natural gas service as a stand-alone device.

The FIELDVUE digital valve controller is a key component of Emerson's PlantWeb digital plant architecture, which networks intelligent instruments that deliver diagnostic data for predictive maintenance and increased availability of production and distribution facilities. Smart Wireless THUM™ Communicator

Emerson engineers have designed a Smart Wireless THUM™ communicator that e l i m i n a t e s t h e n e e d f o r H A R T ®multiplexers. The THUM™ communicator is a component of the self-organizing network that reconnects so you don’t have to. The communicator works with t h e S m a r t W i r eless Gateway and FIELDVUE® instruments to monitor valve travel feedback, provide valve diagnostics, and tell you when there’s a problem.

The Smart Wireless THUM communicator is the first wireless adapter in the industry that is compatible with the recently released WirelessHART™ standard. The THUM communicator will be released for quotation on March 31, 2008. .

FLOW EXPO Trade Show in Guangzhou

The Fisher® division participated in the FLOW EXPO 2008 in China, an international trade fair for valves, pipelines and fluid engineering for the process industries. .

Besides showcasing our AP capabilities, we highlighted our localresponsiveness, i.e. Wuqing factory and the growing product lines that are being offered in this factory. On display were our BaumannTM and Fisher products; Baumann 24000 series, Fisher GX , A41 High Performance Butterfly valve, Vee-Ball® and DVC smart positioner which offer the best-in-class technologies that unlock the full potential of our valued customer’s processes. .

The trade show took place in Guangzhou, China from 26 — 28 Mar 2008, attracted more than 500 visitors to our booth. Amongst them were state-owned enterprises (SOE), foreign wholly-owned subsidiaries and listed companies who generally possess higher purchasing power are concerned about quality, performance of products. Some of the major customers and End-Users who attended the trade show were CNOOC, Sinopec (Luoyang & Guangzhou), Petro China (Lanzhou), China Power and SK Networks. .

The trade show generated opportunities for Emerson to introduce our capabilities in offering a one-stop process control solutions to customers. Additional, it has created the awareness of our recently established Emerson Guangzhou sales office for Fisher Control Valve products and solutions. .

REGIONAL EVENTS

It was labeled as a Runaway Success to the 23rd GASTECH 2008. This year’s Conference & Exhibition was targeted at the LNG, LPG and Natural Gas Industries. It was hosted by the PTT Group and was held on 10-13 March in Bangkok, Thailand. More than 11,500 visitors from well over 50 countries attended the four-days event. .

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand graced the opening ceremony officially opened the exhibition touring stands and meeting exhibitors, thereafter held a private lunch talking with speakers and delegates about the future of Thailand’s oil and gas industry. .

GASTECH 2008, had broken its own records by attracting exhibitors from 36 countries and occupying 13,026m2, nearly twice the size of the previous event. Emerson was one of the 300 exhibiting companies at the event. Emerson secured a 9x12 m booth at the GASTECH exhibit in a location near our Marquee accounts and key EPCs. The venue is a booth that attempts to strike a balance between product showcase and consultative selling.

GASTECH is attended by significant high level management from our Key Accounts, Nationals, EPCs, Ship operators, and process licensors. Given the make up of attendees and the timing of currently identified projects in play, this conference represents an efficient forum for key project decision makers. It has become an industry standard event, held every 15 to 18 months.

With a high number of the middle to senior level management staff present at the GASTECH conference, Emerson is focused on establishing relationships and building awareness of Emerson’s end-to-end LNG process control supply chain capability. It was also a great opportunity to introduce wireless into the LNG market, especially the OEMs that are strongly represented at GASTECH.

Every division of Emerson prepared presentations outlining our key differentiators, LNG related industry specific applications and problem solutions.

Having good knowledge in LNG application of our products was the criteria of the booth staffs . Around 6 Fisher staffs represented Valves to participate in GASTECH ‘08.

Emerson’s broad range of process control products and solutions were on display and their capabilities on the demonstrated PlantWeb Cruiser, a simulator which shows dynamically of Plantweb at work, FOUNDATION Fieldbus System & Devices in Motion, Diagnostics in View as well as PlantWeb Alerts in Action. Three customer meeting stations were available, where each meeting station had monitors and signage to illustrate our key LNG success stories and PCs were used in the conversation areas to present more in-depth discussions, product demos, PlantWeb solutions and etc. The booth also included a hospitality bar where Emerson offered snacks and beverages.

Looking forward, the 24th Gastech will be hosted by ADNOC & Group of Companies staged at the new Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in Abu Dhabi from 25 — 28 May 2009. More information on Gastech 2009 will be available online @ www.gastech.co.uk.
