Emissions from engine test facilities are incre-asingly under attention by authorities and the public, often as residential areas spread out into former industrial areas.

Hug Engineering already supplied numerous custom-built emission control facilities for engine test centers during the last two decades.

These installations enable engine manufactu-rers- and designers to test their engines while

being compliant with local rules and regula-tions. At the same time, there are no restric-tions by back pressure and temperature of the exhaust gas equipment.

The exhaust gas treatment system delivered by Hug Engineering makes it possible to test engi-nes with unusual load profiles and in extraor-dinary engine running events without emitting visible smoke and other pollutants to the envi-ronment.

Figure: Example of exhaust gas treatment equipment for the control of emissions in a 5 engine test facilitiy with 3 lines

• No emission of visible smoke• Compliance with emission rules and regulations (for e.g. PM, NOx, CO, HC)• Fully automated and independent of engine testing• Works with multiple engines on one or several treatment lines• Covers all engine running profiles• No interruption of test facility operation during construction• No back pressure impact – full comparability with past engine reference runs• Proven equipment and instruments• Running cost optimized and tailor made solution
