Emotional Characteristics of Musical InstrumentsGoal: To determine the relationship between music emotion and sound colors. In particular, how emotional characteristics of the piano and other instruments vary with pitch and dynamics.

Listening Test:24 piano tones8 pitches (c1-8: low to high)3 dynamic levels (loud, medium, and soft)10 emotional categories (e.g., Comic, Happy).Listeners judged all pairwise combinations of tones: Which is more Comic, 1 or 2?

Larger values indicate pitches and dynamic levels that were significantly more Comic than others (23 is maximum).
