Apex-Brasil is the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency. They act to promote Brazilian products and services abroad, as well as to attract foreign investment in strategic sectors of the Brazilian economy.
The Agency focuses on companies and projects that offer technological innovations and new business models, strengthen industrial supply chains, have a direct impact on job creation and improve the volume and diversity of Brazilian exports. They also provide support to foreign investors wishing to establish their organisations in Brazil.
Investin BrasilCorporate Event Management
The Challenge
Apex-Brasil planned an event ‘Invest in Brasil 2014’, to coincide with the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston. The focus of the event would be to inform prominent figures within the global oil and gas sector about the opportunities within the Brazilian market.
Partnered with leading organisations such as the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade and Petrobras, Apex-Brasil were determined to attract 100 key decision makers to the event. Apex-Brasil sought a partner that could manage all aspects of the event professionally with specialist knowledge of the oil and gas sector.
In addition Apex-Brasil required marketing support to develop the event branding, website and meeting collateral (invitations, badges, lanyards, event banners and backdrop). With a specialised background in the energy sector and full service in-house marketing capabilities, EMPHASIS was the natural choice to manage ‘Invest in Brasil 2014′.

The Result
Drawing on our extensive event experience, EMPHASIS took responsibility for all event management online and offline, liaising with suppliers, being the first point of contact for all invitations, enquiries and event registration.
In order to meet Apex-Brasil’s creative requirements, the EMPHASIS design team built and maintained a dedicated event website as well as designing and producing all artwork for the meeting.
The event was multilingual requiring real time translation from Portuguese to English.
The EMPHASIS team provided a translator to enable all attendees to follow presentations in both languages. The result was an attendance of 113 key figures from international companies with an interest in the Brazilian market. As a direct result of the event many of these organisations actively investigating ways to establish their businesses in Brazil.

Creative Campaign
The Challenge
Offshore Europe (OE) is a biennial conference and exhibition that supports the oil and gas industry held in Aberdeen, Scotland. Running for over 40 years OE is one of Europe’s largest industry events and attracts over 60,000 attendees each year.
OilCareers had an exhibition stand booked at the show and required a creative campaign and booth design that generated a buzz. The campaign needed a clear call to action to drive attendees to visit their stand, to be engaging and to ensure that their stand and marketing campaign stood out in a busy marketplace. The creative campaign would underpin the required deliverables which included a trade show stand, airport advertising, A6 flyers and give-aways.
OilCareers were further challenged by being in an area with low footfall and so needed to develop a campaign that would drive people to their stand.

The Result
EMPHASIS created the “Want to drive your Oil and Gas career forward?” campaign. By playfully using parallels between the languages of career development and of golf, EMPHASIS aimed to raise awareness of OilCareers and to drive footfall to their stand.
The advertising campaign posters were placed in key locations around Aberdeen airport so visitors travelling to Offshore Europe would be aware of the campaign as soon as they stepped off the plane. This encouraged attendees to actively seek out the stand at the show.
To bring this concept to life at the exhibition we turned their booth into a golf driving range, using imagery and artificial grass flooring. An interactive driving range game challenged visitors to ‘drive their career forward’ for the chance to win an all expenses paid weekend at Goodwood golf club. This engagement provided extra time for the sales team to explain more about the company and gain attendees contact details whilst they waited to play the game.
OilCareers received significant footfall to their stand throughout the show. Their target of gaining 900 people onto the stand was exceeded and their brand profile was raised.

Oceanology International (OI) is a global forum where industry, academia and government share knowledge and connect with the marine technology and ocean science community, improving their strategies for measuring, exploiting, protecting and operating in the world’s oceans.
Established in 1969, OI provides the world’s largest exhibition for marine science and technology, several agenda-setting technical conferences, visiting vessels and waterside demonstrations, all free to attend.

The Challenge
OI were aware that new and existing exhibitors often overlooked the resources that were available. They believed that this was because they were spread across multiple platforms and information packs.
OI has numerous resources available to exhibitors to support them in exhibiting at the show. They wanted to create an exhibitor guide, which consolidated all of this information as well as provided some general hints and tips for first time exhibitors.
OI is a cross-disciplinary event and therefore the show guide needed to be relevant to exhibitors from a variety of sectors. Drawing on our own experience of creating marketing campaigns for the energy and marine sectors, we were chosen to produce a concise and informative guide to exhibiting at the show.

The Result
EMPHASIS created a “Guide to Exhibiting at OI 2014” that encapsulated the various marketing opportunities available to exhibitors. This 11 page brochure included some of our own experiences of working with clients at trade shows to support first time exhibitors. The result was a clear, concise guide with links to the relevant support material. The guide was circulated to all exhibitors attending OI 2014 (over 300 companies), informing them on how to maximise return on investment from exhibiting and face-to-face marketing at the show.

The Challenge
The Network required a brochure for a Technology Showcase event in Houston. This material needed to incorporate the existing Oiltech branding as well as a design that differentiated the various technical topics that were to be discussed at the meeting.
The Result
The completed 16-page brochure encapsulated technical information and relevant industry imagery to support the forum. The brochure was circulated to over 250 delegates at the annual event and made available to industry representatives to promote innovative technology uptake.
The Oiltech Investment Network is an industry organisation that promotes entrepreneurship within the oil and gas sector. The Network consists of venture capital and private equity companies that are focused on investments within the upstream oil and gas sector.
The group works with entrepreneurs and start up companies that are seeking investment funding as well as established businesses, to provide guidance on how to effectively grow their businesses.

The Subsea Wireless Group or SWiG is an international industry initiative established to promote interoperability for subsea wireless communications. The Group consists of operators, service companies and technology providers seeking to understand and utilise the capabilities of through water communications within the oil and gas sector.

The Challenge
SWiG required print and digital marketing material that provided a summary of key information about the Group and its membership as well as upcoming 101 wireless training meetings. With a complicated message it was essential to articulate the background, benefits and differentiators of the Group.
The Result
EMPHASIS generated two A6 flyers, which summarised key information relating to the Group. The promotional materials were printed and also distributed digitally to encourage participation in the Groups network meetings in Europe and the USA. The flyers were in keeping with the existing brand logo and also incorporated relevant subsea imagery.

The Subsea Fibre Optic Monitoring Group or SEAFOM is an international joint industry project promoting the growth of fibre optical sensing in subsea applications.
Launched in 2006, SEAFOM holds international meetings 4 times per year and membership is open to organisations that are active in developing, interfacing and deploying in-well and subsea fibre optic monitoring systems and components. SEAFOM currently includes over 50 members from the oil and gas and marine sectors and is managed by OTM Consulting.

The Challenge
The SEAFOM group had generated a number of technical architectures that depicted fibre sensor electronics on the seabed. These materials were created in a PowerPoint format and were intended to be circulated and used by SEAFOM members to depict communications in a variety of formats.
The SEAFOM group required these architectures to be updated and presented in a visually impactful format. EMPHASIS was selected due to our experience of working within the oil and gas sector and our unparalleled understanding of subsea technologies.
The Result
Drawing on our experience within the area of subsea technologies, EMPHASIS created a series of 10 technical images that depicted the fibre sensor systems in a variety of scenarios.
We worked with the SEAFOM team to fully understand the architectures and how they were to be used to develop a realistic and simplified technical graphic for the Group.

Lewmar is a leading sail boat and powerboat hardware supplier for the leisure marine industry. They design and manufacture a range of anchor windlass bow thrusters, hatches and port lights, sail boat hardware, winches and steering equipment.

The Challenge
Lewmar provide a wide range of technically complex products, which offer significant benefits to their customers. They wanted to explain these benefits in clear and simple terms by using 3D animation integrated with real life footage. The aim was to explain the uniqueness of the products and how they could be applied in marine scenarios.
The Result
We developed a detailed storyboard to outline everything that the movie would contain. We took existing footage, edited this and also developed a unique soundtrack for the movie. Using 3D CADs we were able to animate the selected products, highlighting the USPs using clear statements and taking the products apart to identify and profile key technical differentiators. The animations were placed next to real live footage to communicate how these products could be used.

Strudyna strive to develop and support their customers in identifying and using the correct fittings in the marine and architectural industries.

The Challenge
Strudyna needed an impactful brochure, which used a creative approach to highlight their products. We advised them to invest in dynamic technical photography to support the design of their new brochure. This brochure needed to build brand recognition, highlight their product innovations as well as the key operational applications.
The Result
Our photography studio specialises in technical and creative photo shoots to highlight product USPs in imaginative and innovative scenarios. The Strudyna photography used a macro lens to highlight the detail and uniqueness of the products.
These photos were then incorporated into the new brochure, which was designed and created by the team. These images were also used within print advertising campaigns.

The Challenge
Murray Planning was a newly established company that needed a new brand logo that encapsulated an abstract and modern design. They also required a new website that incorporated this imagery and explained more about the business and how they could help companies in the energy sector with their planning applications.
The Result
We developed a crisp new identity which was then further developed into the new website and marketing materials. The website was built in WordPress to enable the directors to easily manage and update online content. Social media sharing and Google maps were some of the key features that were brought into the site to improve functionality and usability.

Their aim is to provide a unique blend of expertise in metrology, manufacturing and automation to clients aiming to develop highly innovative and novel production processes.

The EMPHASIS team developed a bespoke 15 page brochure for INSPHERE. We supported the directors in clearly articulating the company’s USPs as well as providing advice on the overall structure and layout to ensure maximum impact.
The brochure incorporated relevant technical imagery, the creative supported their newly developed brand identity and we provided strategic guidance on the content to ensure their positioning was correct for their target markets.
The Challenge
The INSPHERE team approached EMPHASIS to develop their new corporate brochure. As part of the brief, they required consultancy support on the content of the brochure to ensure that this was correctly positioned for the key markets they were targeting. The team also sought a fresh creative approach, tailored to integrate with their newly developed brand identity and website.

OceanLED provide underwater LED lights for all types of boats. They sought a creative way to depict their products in situ using technical photography. These photos would then be used in their marketing materials.

Our photography studio specialises in technical and creative photo shoots to highlight product USPs in imaginative and innovative settings.
The Result
The OceanLED photo shoot incorporated a water tank and a high-speed flash to capture the products in a unique and eye catching manner. These images were then used on and offline to support their marketing activities.
