USF offers generous leave benefits with 11 paid holidays, sick leave and, for 12-month employees, annual (vacation) leave. Each pay period, full time employees accrue 4 hours of Sick Leave and, if eligible, 6.769 hours of Annual Leave. Upon separation from USF, employees with at least six months of service are eligible for payment of their accrued annual leave balance, up to 352 hours. After ten years of service, employees separating from USF are eligible for up to 480 hours of accrued sick leave. Faculty appointed at least .75 FTE may be eligible for paid parental leave.

USF promotes a healthy work/life balance by offering a variety of activities and services to our employees. On campus, employees may take advantage of two child care centers, two pharmacies, the Campus Recreation facilities, the USF Computer Store, and a wide variety of dining options. Full time employees are eligible for an employee tuition program which pays for up to six credit hours per semester for the employee. The Employee Assistance Program helps employees with personal, family or workplace concerns and issues. Survivors of crime, violence or abuse can seek assistance through the USF Center for Victim Advocacy and Violence Prevention.

While most don’t consider it a “benefit”, it’s important for potential employees to know about transportation and parking options at USF. All vehicles parked on campus must have a paid permit. Employees can purchase permits for a semester or year through payroll deduction. As an alternative to parking on campus, we offer a wide variety of transportation options such as free USF BullRunner shuttles on and near campus, 25¢ fares on the municipal bus (HART), WeCar rentals by the hour, carpooling resources, and an Emergency Ride Home program.

Life Insurance Full time employees are automatically covered by a $25,000 term policy at no cost. Part time employees may opt for this coverage, but will pay part of the premium, based on their FTE. Employees may also obtain additional coverage at group rates on a pre- or post-tax basis. Dental Insurance The State of Florida offers a wide variety of dental plans and coverage levels. Monthly costs range from $10.20 to $124.14, depending upon the plan and coverage level. Vision Insurance Humana Vision offers two pre-tax vision plans: the full coverage Exam Plus, which covers exams and materials and the Materials Only plan. Monthly premiums range from $4.36 to $17.98, depending upon the plan and the coverage level. Other Supplemental Insurances We offer a variety of other insurances including supplemental hospitalization, cancer and intensive care, long term disability, long term care, and personal accident insurance. The employee pays the full premium at group rates. Reimbursement Accounts Set aside money on a pre-tax basis for uncovered medical expenses (including deductions and co-pays), medical reimbursements and dependent day care.
