Top Talent = Women!

Thriving in Times of Change

“The pipeline that supplies the educated workforce is chock-full of women at the entry level, but by the time that same pipeline is filling leadership positions, it is overwhelmingly stocked with men.”

- - Sheryl Sandberg

Strategies for Keeping Young Women in the Pipeline

• Equip them with business and career development skills from the start, ensure they have a variety of paths to success and understand these paths

• Rotate them into positions where they can meet and learn from those just a few steps ahead, provide tracks to leadership via targeted initiatives until a critical mass of women are represented at all levels of leadership

• Transparency in pay equity and advancement of women in the company

• Ensure influential leaders form sponsorship relationships with female talent; everyone learns from this

• Ensure access to role models who take diverse approaches to career, business development and leadership

The Changing Face of Business and Accounting• By 2042 Minorities will be the Majority

• By 2050, it is forecasted that 29% of the population will be Hispanic and 9% will be Asian. By 2015, 26% of the U.S. buying power will be non-Caucasian

• Gay and lesbian consumers will represent a 6.4% market share, or $835 billion

• In the accounting profession, hiring of minority graduates increased from 17 percent in 2001 to 25 percent in 2010, only six percent of firm partners are ethnically diverse.

• The AICPA’s “2013 Trends in the Supply of Accounting graduates and the Demand for Public Accounting Recruits showed that ethnic diversity in accounting graduates is trending at 30% for minorities.

The Changing Face of Business and Accounting

•Increasing the inclusiveness of your firm’s culture is essential in attracting, retaining and advancing the talent that represents the future face of accounting.

•Until the firm’s culture fully supports the engagement and development of all top talent the firm’s sustainability is at risk.

•Is your firm strategically preparing for the changing nature of the marketplace and workforce?

•Are new market slipping away from you today as a result of a lack of awareness about the changing face of business and accounting?

•Diversity and Inclusiveness is a major element of employee engagement.
