Third Party Add-ons
• This 4-hour session offers curriculum to support the maintenance and optimization of 3rd party functionalities currently associated to your EHR (Electronic Health Record) System. It will concentrate on the management of common add-on interfaces, including: eSM Console (e-prescribing), Document Management, and EMR Link (labs). Additionally, although not an add-on, Link Logic will also be a topic of the curriculum as it directly interacts with 3rd party interfaces.
Why Third Party Add-ons?
• Most Health Centers require an eprescribing interface, Lab interface, and indexing interface.
• Focus will be on big players in the field, ESM Console, EMR-Link, and Document Management for GE Centricity.
• Not understanding these applications and configuring them incorrectly will lead to your staff not being able to complete their tasks
ESM Console

• Things you can do in ESM Console
• Add a Pharmacy to Centricity
• Add a prescribing provider
• Review outgoing prescriptions
• Review incoming refill requests
• Test interface to eliminate causes of errors
• Add users that can access ESM Console

User View
New User View
User Section Essentials for adding a new User
• Required:
• Username
• Password
• Role
• database
• To add a database, select from the dropdown of available databases. Usually the “DefaultCentricity” option will be selected. To add it, simply click on the (+) sign.
LINK LOGIC
What is LinkLogic?
• It finds and stores information identified and caused by activity between the interfaces; Data transfers.
• What can you do in LinkLogic?
• View/fix errors when receiving lab results
• View/fix errors when receiving e-Rx refills
• View activity logs of activity between interfaces.
• View Data Transfer Server (DTS) Status
What Causes Errors?• LinkLogic can't process the import file, possibly due to a patient mismatch or the wrong
data format.
• LinkLogic can’t find the responsible provider.
• LinkLogic can't find a relationship for the data or the header record in the data file isn't correct.
• LinkLogic can't process the job, due to a missing configuration file or a bad export segment.
• LinkLogic can't import the data because the patient's chart is being updated by another user.
Having Access to Link Logic – Securities’ View in CPS
Where is Link Logic – View to access it
Activity Log – View of sample activity message
Link Logic Organize Option View
LinkLogic Activity Log – Functionality
• What does the Activity Log display?
• All activity will be tracked here
• It can but will not always be user specific
• A small description of the error or action will be shown at the bottom
• The organize button is very helpful in limiting the amount of information viewed in all sections.
Failed Error Example 1: Orphaned Document View
What is an Orphaned Document?• This error informs us that there was an issue in identifying the Ordering
provider on a specific medication or test and that there was also trouble in identifying the patient’s responsible provider due to lack of information.
• Formatting of the HL7 information is very important. Most Health identify the provider’s login name as being required for matching.
• When does this happen?
• Most commonly when a test order is not sent electronically but is instead sent manually. Why?
Orphaned Document – Resolving Error View
Orphaned Document – View of Error Within The Patient’s Chart
Orphaned Documents – Manual Resolve View 1
• Once the document has been identified in the patient’s chart as the View in the previous slide, do the following to resolve the error manually:
1. Right click the document2. Select “Change Properties

DTS Monitor View
DTS Monitor – Breakdown
• DTS = Data Transfer Server
• When the Data Transfer Server is down the status will show “Error”.
• DTS restart via internal IT or Alliance IT
• If Socket status shows “None” you shouldn’t panic, it becomes an issue if the status is “Error”.
10 Minute Break!
EMR LINK
What is EMR-Link?
• EMR-Link allows for a bidirectional interface between a site and a lab.
• Things you can do in EMR-Link
• Look at Provider lab orders
• Look at Lab results
• Add providers to the interface
• Add lab test (order) mapping
• Add locations of care for lab ordering
EMR-Link Quick Links
EMR-Link Orders - View
EMR-Link OrdersQuestions that can be answered
• Did the order to through to EMR-Link?
• Was a specific test included in the order?
• Is the correct provider appearing?
• Was the order sent to the lab?
• Was this a future order?
• Was the order sent out and then the provider added additional tests to the order?
EMR-Link ProvidersRequired– EMR Provider Last Name– EMR Provider First Name– NPI– EMR User Name
Optional– User is authorized to order– EMR User Name of
Authorizing Provider– CC Provider
EMR-Link Results - View
EMR-Link Results - Functionality
What can I do with these options?
• Requeue lab results
• Check for when the result was sent over to Centricity.
• Verify accounts are working by seeing if they are receiving results
• View HL7 Forms for details on the results, including if providers are mapped correctly.
EMR-Link Accounts – Sections To ConsiderLabsAccounts – Add your Account numbers for each Location of Care
LabsLocations – Add the specific Location of Cares your Organization has.
LabsDefault/Visible Accounts – Join your accounts and Locations of Care

EMR-Link Order Mapping
When adding new tests for providers:
– Ordering Description and Description MUST be the same.
– Ordering Code and Code MUST be the same
– Lab code is the Lab’s test number
– Consult with your COO/supervisor/billing team
– Providers could request a new test that is very costly.
– Ensure you have an internal protocol for when new test are added
5 Minute Break!
Document Management
What is Document Management?
• It allows for the indexing of scanned documents into Centricity, specifically, into the patient’s charts.
• What can I use Document Management for?
– Managing scanned documents
– Managing/Creating document types of scanned documents
– Managing users that can send and receive the documents.
– Mapping observation terms so they are usable in the flowsheet.
Document Management – Main Screen View
Document Management- Indexing Prep The Document View
Document Management – Areas that will be addressed View
Document Management – Areas Breakdown1. Files to import
2. Import as: its own document vs append
3. Document Type
4. Clinical Date: The date the document created in Centricity will display.
5. Summary: Summary displayed in CPS
6. Look up patient
7. Import signed/abnormal, neither, or both.
8. Physician: select the appropriate physician as the document will be routed to their desktop

DM Configuration: Document Types View
Document Types - Breakdown
• DM Document Types (NOT EMR Document types)
• These Document Types live only in Document Management.
• The summary lines do cross over but not the doc type unless you also set up the EMR document types (reference previous screenshot)
• Think of the doc types in DM as categories.
New Document Type – 1 Hour GTT Example View
1 Hour GTT Example – Breakdown Part 1
This screen will allow you to include your destination, which we want it to be Centricity EMR, associated to Patients.
The summary list will be useful. Simply press enter and enter the different summary lines under each other. This will serve as the dropdown for your staff from the main window.
These summary lines do cross over into Centricity EMR within the document summary line section.
New Document Type – 1 Hour GTT Example View
1 Hour FTT Example – Breakdown Part 2
• The “Centricity EMR document type” will list the available document types in your Centricity environment. Create a new doc type in CPS if you would like for it to be available on this screen.
• You can add Observation terms to your DM doc type. Why is this useful? Does anyone here have that functionality turned on?
• You can control the possible values each obsterm has available (recommended). Why would you want to do this?
Configuration: Indexing Folders View
Configuration: Indexing Folders Breakdown
• This is one of the most common requests, “Can we have a new folder available”.
• Technically, the actual folders themselves are created automatically on the Alliance side when the Health Center staff member (admin) creates a new folder in your directory. The only next step would be to create the path in the indexing section. How?
• How do we know the path it should be?
