SafetyTake the necessary and required safety precautions, such as safety nets and lifelines when installing from the outside, safety goggles, gloves, hard hat, etc.Do not step on the glass.

Falling from height

• When using ladders to go on the roof: - Ladder in good condition? - Set up correctly at an angle of 75°? - Secured below and on top against moving? - Don’t take heavy material with you on the ladder (3-point contact rule)! If possible, use a crane to lift the material.• If you are going on the roof, make sure there is a walking surface that is wide enough and that supports on the beams of the lower structure.• When using an aerial work platform: always wear and secure your harness (mandatory)! Leaving the cage is forbidden. • Never walk backwards on a roof, always walk forwards.• Make sure there’s enough light in the working zone.

Low-hanging obstacles and falling loads

• Forbidden to walk under or within a radius of 1 m of a hanging or lifted load.• Demarcate the danger zone below the zone where there is a risk of material falling down during the installation of the veranda.• It’s prohibited to enter these danger zones during construction.

Crushing hazard

• All working tools are in good condition, provided with a valid CE label and all necessary safety regulations. These cannot be removed.• People who use these working tools are educated for this purpose. Protections are always present on all working tools. They are in good condition and need to be set correctly.

Tripping/falling

• Safety is key and it begins with order and tidiness. Clean everything immediately, leave nothing lying around. • Trash needs to be sorted. • Be cautious with electric cables (danger of tripping/falling). Never walk backwards! • Make sure there’s enough light in the working zone.

Sharp objects

• Make sure your fingers/hands are not pinched and watch out for cuts while handling veranda parts.• Be careful where you put your hands during the installation.• Wearing cut-resistant gloves is mandatory.

Ergonomics

• Always lift loads correctly: bend your knees, move your feet instead of forcing your spine, lift as close to your body as possible. • Parts of more than 25 kg must be lifted with at least 2 persons.

Personal protective equipment

• Work clothes, safety shoes and helmet are mandatory for everyone.

• Lifeline and harness are mandatory if the edge is not secured enough or if there are no safety nets below the veranda roof. They are also necessary when using an aerial working platform.

• Use gloves when handling veranda parts.

• Safety glasses and hearing protection are mandatory when using saws / grinders.

Always perform a Last Minute Risc Analysis! If in doubt: STOP! Do not take unnecessary risks. Ask your supervisor if needed.

General installation tipsPlease read this manual carefully. The installation must be carried out by people with sufficient technical knowledge and experience in conservatory installation. The installer must take the required safety measures into account during installation such as the use of scaffolding and personal protective equipment (safety shoes, helmet, gloves, safety goggles, etc.) to ensure the work is carried out in a safe environment. During installation, the necessary precautions must be taken to ensure the stability of the unfinished construction.

Fixing materialThe selection of required fixing material is dependent on the foundation or the walls. Check whether the foundation and the walls on which the structure is to be anchored have a sufficient load-bearing capacity. The installer is responsible for the assessment of the appropriate fixing materials for the load and foundation on which the structure is to be fixed. Please contact your fixing material supplier or specialised engineering consultants in case of doubts. Skylux cannot be held liable for the installation or the fixing materials used.

Static (Statik)All guidelines and parts mentioned in this manual must be used and applied correctly to comply with the Static (Statik).

Polycarbonate plastic sheetsOnly use polycarbonate sheets of Skylux. These sheets must always be installed with the UV protected side facing upwards. This “sun side” is always marked on the protective foil. The sheet ends must be taped with the supplied aluminium-coloured tape. This avoids dust and dirt from entering the sheets. Polycarbonate is not completely damp proof. Condensation in the channels may occur (physical phenomenon). Avoid using silicone because it can affect the plastic sheets. Plastic sheets can produce contraction or expansion sounds due to change in temperature. This does not influence the guarantee and is not accepted as a damage claim.

Conditions and guaranteeThe guarantee is no longer valid if the mounting instructions mentioned in this document are not followed. If these instructions are not respected and/or if other parts are used, this can lead to detrimental consequences for the safety and durability of the product. Deviations are not allowed without the written permission of the manufacturer. The mounting instructions are based on our latest level of knowledge and technique. We cannot be held responsible for possibly insufficient information. Always check if our product is suitable for your application. Since the usage and installation of our product is carried out beyond our control, Skylux cannot be held responsible for possible damage. The installer must take into account the presented span lengths depending on the glazing and load (snow load or wind load) in accordance with the valid standards. For out of range carports you can always contact the manufacturer, architect, or study bureau. Technical changes are reserved to the manufacturer without preceding oral or written notification. Skylux reserves the right to change the mounting instructions without preceding notification. Changes in the mounting instructions or product changes do not allow for compensation or exchange of parts. The latest version of this manual can always be consulted on www.skylux.be.

ClimaCarfastSkylux provides you the free ClimaCarfast calculation application. You will receive information on how to log on and download the Excel version of the application upon request. ClimaCarfast calculates the price of your ClimaCar roof. For each project, you will receive an overview of the profiles, lengths, parts, permitted loads, etc. The application provides information and indications for the user. Skylux reserves the right to change the ClimaCarfast calculation application without prior notification. The calculation results are indicative and do not allow for compensation. The latest version of the calculation application can always be downloaded on www.skylux.be.

Installation lower arches LP533

First, install the outer arches. Even them out with the ends of the base profiles. Drill a hole of Ø 4 mm in between the 2 vertical edges into the support on each end of the lower arch. Tighten with the self-drilling inox screws ZSB. Afterwards, position the other arches against the pre-drilled holes of the base profile and tighten with screws.

Installation polycarbonate sheetsThe sheets are installed with the UV side facing upwards. The UV side is the side with the printed protection film and the printed text on the edge of the sheet. The sheets are 980 mm wide, except for the first and last sheet which are sawn to 940 mm. Remove the protection film until 10 cm of the edge. Do this on both sides. Be sure there is no dust or dirt in the sheets. First, the sheets must be taped on the ends. Place the sheets on the arches and slide one end into the U-shaped part of the base profile. Make sure the play between the sheet and the arches is equal on both sides (approx. 5 mm per side). Push the other side upwards and put the end in the U-shaped part of the base profile too. Do this by hitting the sheet with the flat of your hand.

Installation draft strips LP505

The draft strips clamp the sheets in the base profile. The draft strips for the shorter sheets (first and last sheet) must be sawn off to 883 mm or 888 mm. The draft strips of 928 mm are used for the other sheets. Use a wooden board to hammer in the draft strips.

Remove the protection foil from the polycarbonate sheets.
