INTRODUCTION
Enamel Paint High gloss, hard-drying film covering that varies in
composition depending on the intended use of the product.
Functional, multipurpose and dry to shiny finishes. Hard-wearing paint surface product
Epoxy Paint paint with resin added that enables it to bond better
to surfaces. has a glossy sheen and is very hard when dried

PROPERTIES
PROPERTIES
Epoxy paint
Epoxies may lose their shine when exposed to
direct sunlight. This can be resolved by
addition of urethanes or latex.
Epoxy coatings have good chemical
resistance, low porosity, durability, and bond strength.
Epoxies are brittle and hard.
Additives are added that reduce
the brittleness.
Will harden within minutes
or hours but requires more time before
coating can be sanded
Wide range of colour
• Comes in a broad range of colour.
Extremely durable
• Once hardened ,it can last for many years.
Easy applicati
on
• Its ability to dry quickly when exposed to air.
Advantages of Enamel Paint
ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES
Cost• More expensive compared to latex paint
Potentially toxic
• Have very strong odors that are harmful
• Not environment-friendly.
Insoluble in liquid
• Thinning and clean-up of brushes, hands, etc., must be done with a solvent such as mineral spirits or paint thinner.
Disadvantages ofEnamel Paint

Variety of Styles
Advantages of Epoxy Paint
• has chemical & heat resistance, durability, low porosity and strong bond strength.
• Can be used where ordinary paint will be ruined such as garage & factory floors.
• Cuts the cost of professional installers.
• Paint flakes & chips can be added to give a flecked look to the surface.
ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES
Delamination
Slippery Surface
Time-consumin
g
Tedious Prep Work
Disadvantages of
Epoxy Paint
• Surface must be cleaned before applying the material & a series of drying is needed.
• Preparing the surface is both labor intensive & important. If not properly prepared, many problems can occur.
• Without additives added, the surface where the paint is applied can be slippery.
• If applied in damp places, the epoxy coating can be divided into layers & lift off the floor
ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES
APPLICATION OF EPOXY
1) Evaluating Surface
• Solid material & oil spots should be removed by cleaning/degreasing the floor, etching it with a mild acid, scrubbing, vacuuming and a lot of rinsing.
• Before applying the epoxy & after hosing down the surface, the floor mustn’t be damp; if so it can cause adherence problems.
2) Patc
h The Cracks
• When the floor is dried, small & large cracks, plus holes should be filled with crack filler. The floor must be leveled & smoothed by using a plastic putty knife.
3) Mixing The Epoxy
• The base & curing agent are to be mixed. The mixing should be slow & shouldn’t be left for a long time, as it will harden.
• Since the sides & corners of a container may not have the same amount, the mixture is transferred to another container before application.
APPLICATION OF EPOXY
4) Coatings
• To apply the epoxy paint, a brush or a roller should be used. The paint should be applied evenly through the surface.
• After waiting to dry overnight for a minimum 16 hours, a second coating is applied but unless a glossy floor is unintended, a non-skid floor coating additive is added into the epoxy, preventing it from being slippery when wet & then waited for another 16 hours.
5) Sealing
• Just like other paint, a sealer is needed to prevent substances into the coat & should be spread uniformly to the surface.
• It is then waited for 24 hours for light traffic & 72 hours for heavy traffic such as vehicles.

PRECAUTIONS
stay away until a newly painted room has fully dried.
Keep container closed, upright when not in used.
Store in cool , dry well- ventilated area. Avoid prolonged storage, temperature above
100 F. Material is hygroscopic. Keep containers tightly sealed
