CHALLENGE Encourage girls and young women to use ICT

REGION Tanzania, Ghana and DR Congo

PROTOTYPE Techstyles: A concept that helps young girls get interested in ICT through fashion. The main concept is helping teachers start fashion technology clubs in their schools. Here, girls can discover the possibilities of technology while creating their own clothes from low cost materials such as diodes and Raspberry Pi, neatly packaged as “The Techstyles Starter Kit”. A website will let girls showcase their designs. The hope is to spark interest that will lead girls into technology.
