The character focus at the moment is about being courageous. One of the well-known stories in the Bible that exemplifies this character trait is the story in Numbers 13 and 14 about Joshua and Caleb. Remem- ber when Moses chose twelve men to go and spy out the land. Joshua and Caleb were the two who came back trusting the Lord and encouraging the people to go in and take the land because God was with them. The Chil- dren of Israel where less than thrilled with the idea and instead of trusting God like Joshua and Caleb had pro- posed, they said that they would rather choose a new leader and return to the slavery of Egypt. So what makes Josh- ua and Caleb stand out as being cou- rageous? The one thing that I focussed on this week in Year 3-4 Chapel was the fact that Joshua and Caleb dis- played courage in possibly the most challenging of lifes situations. They stood up to the crowd. When we are faced with choosing what is right, when it seems that all those around us seem to oppose us, lets not forget the en- couragement from Joshua and Caleb Joshua 24:15b “…..but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.Steven Nicholas. WEDNESDAYS YEAR 5-6 NETBALL TOURNAMENT REPORTS On Wednesday, the Year 5/6 went to net- ball at the Wesley Hill Netball Courts. We had a lot of fun. We played 6 games. We won 3 games, we had a draw on 2 games and we lost 1 game. I played in WA (wing attack) the whole time. After we had played all our games, we watched the girlsfinal between Winters Flat and Castlemaine North. Castlemaine North won. After the finals, we came back to school. I had a good day. The courts were real- ly nice because they were built recently. We played the first game and won. In total we won three games, had a tie in two and lost one. I think we did a really good job. Even though we didnt make the finals. The teams that made the finals in the mixed (our group) were Castlemaine North and Maldon. Castlemaine won. PARENT / STUDENT SURVEYS Your individual parent notification has been set up and you will soon see your invitation to take part arrive in your email in box. Students from Years 5 – 10 will be required to complete the survey anonymously at school. It is a government requirement that we all take this op-portunity to review and answer these sur-veys. Your assistance in this area is always ap-preciated. This survey can only be completed online and is not available as a hardcopy. SECONDARY SPORT After the wet weather break last Friday we resume our unit developing netball skills, knowledge and tactics. Our focus will be on learning the particular roles of specific positions. SECONDARY CAMP We are planning a Secondary Camp for week 6 next Term. It will be held at the PGL Adventure Camp in Kyneton. We will not be taking part in the South Pacific International Convention in Sydney that was previously planned for the end of the year. Money that has been collected for South Pac will be therefore used for next terms camp. DATES TO REMEMBER Tuesday May 29 Reachout AGM Tuesday June 19 Report Writing Day Wednesday June 27 End of Term Presentation TERM TWO Mon April 16 - Wed Jun 27 TERM THREE Wed July 18 - Fri Sept 21 TERM FOUR Mon Oct 8 - Thurs. Dec 6

On the 23 of May (yesterday), Susie, Zelda and the year 5/6 students went to a netball competi-tion. I only played a few games but I thought it was fun. Firstly, we went on the bus to get there. I sat next to Susie and we read some books there and back. When we got there, I thought it was amazing because it was big and had no fences around each court. The courts were blue with 2 semicircles, 1 circle in the middle and 2 other lines that went horizontally. I played against some really good players. We played 6 games and won 3 of them, we had a draw on 2 games and we lost 1 game. I mainly played wing defence.

TABLOID SPORTS REPORT Last Friday, the Year 1/2 students travelled to Castlemaine Secondary College to take part in the local schools tabloid sports day. Apart from a small shower of rain, the Year One and Twos re-ally enjoyed the day playing a number of games with students from other schools, seeing old friends and making some new ones. YEAR 3-6 PE Next week Jake Thrum will be back for a session of AFL 9’s skill development and games practise. Jake is a Game Development Officer for the Cen-tral Victoria region and we are fortunate to have his input.

OPEN DAY Our Open Day was held on Tuesday afternoon and evening. We had a number of inquiries and saw several families come through the College with prospective new students. If you know of any families interested to look at Olivet, please en-courage them to give us a call to book a school tour.
