EndoPilot For an efficient and safe preparation of the root canal
This torque and speed controlled endo-dontic motor ensures an efficient prepara-tion of the root canal. It is provided with an ultra-modern integrated apex locator which allows an exact, real-time determi-nation of the length, thus ensuring com-plete safety and full control of the actual position of the file at all times.
The EndoPilot is provided with a pre-pro-grammed file library containing the param-eters of the AlphaKite and EasyShape files and other commonly used file systems. The operator has the option to develop individually adapted sequences and to save them. A patented file management tool monitors the wear of each file by automatically recording important wear-related parameters such as speed, torque and duration of use.
To finish off the treatment, a three dimensional, tightly sealed filling can be achieved with the warm, vertical conden-sation technique. The DownPack module is used for filling the apical third, whereas the central and upper third are thermo plastically filled with the BackFill pistol.
The EndoPilot is provided with a large, easy-to-read touch screen which guides the operator through the menu. Like that, all functions can be found quickly and eas-ily. The EndoPilot is designed according to a modular construction. The system can therefore be expanded at any time.

This powerful, torque and speed controlled endodontic motor ensures a comfortable, economic and safe preparation of the root canal. It is provided with coloured LED lights indicating the direction of rotation, the torque limit and the position of the apex.
Once the preset torque has been reached, the twist-function prevents jamming of the file by performing alternating movements to the left and to the right. This torque lim-iting function is equally effective when the motor rotates in anti-clockwise direction. This is why, when rotating in clockwise direction, the motor works with maximally 80% of its nominal torque, to ensure that another 20% are available for reverse operation.
The EndoPilot motor is also provided with a torque limiting function when approach-ing the apex. This function limits the cutting efficiency of the file in the apical region and ensures continuous evacua-tion of chips from the root canal. At this point, many other motors will switch to reverse operation, which will lead to the debris being conveyed towards the apex. The endodontic motor shows equally intel-ligent behaviour when the apex has been reached: even then, it does not switch to anticlockwise rotation, but stops briefly before it carefully reassumes clockwise rotation.
The EndoPilot is prepared for a recipro-cal power system. This function can be activated by a special code. After that, the operator can save various different move-ment profiles.

This fully insulated electric contra-angle was especially developed for use in endo-dontics. In combination with this contra-angle, the integrated apex locator allows an exact, real-time determination of the length during preparation. The operator is always in full control of the current posi-tion of the file. He can therefore work in complete safety. The contra-angle directs the signal of the apex locator directly to the file, thus eliminating the need for annoying file contact bows. Thanks to the complete insulation of the motor and the contra-angle, measuring errors, for exam-ple caused by contact with the mucosa, are excluded.
The precise electronic measurement of the length is carried out according to the impulse measurement technique within a fraction of the usual time. Thanks to the most advanced micro processor techno-logy with 10-bit resolution, the preparation length can be determined with precision. The instant analysis of the signal allows the apex to be measured in real time dur-ing preparation.
The depth of the preparation can be changed by simply moving the marker (cross bar on the apex indicator) on the touch display.
The apex locator can even be used – with-out endodontic motor – to determine the preparation length with manual files in combination with a file clamp.
All functions of the EndoPilot are selected on the clearly laid-out touch display which can be used with intuition. The input takes place directly on the display.
A gentle touch of your finger tip is enough to make the EndoPilot automatically choose the next file within the chosen file sequence.

The file library – preset parameters of commonly used file systems
MyFile – develop and save your own individual sequence
The EndoPilot is provided with a file library containing the parameters (i.e. speed, torque etc.) of the AlphaKite and EasyShape files and other commonly used file systems.
The file library can easily be updated by installing new file systems. The memory capacity of the EndoPilot is sufficient to store 1000 different files and their respec-tive parameters.
The function “MyFile” allows the operator to develop individually adapted sequences and to save these. To do this, individual files and their parameters can be taken from the file library and combined as required. The new sequence can then be saved under “MyFile”. The speed and torque are automatically imported from the file library. The user is of course free to change the preset speed and torque values as necessary.

A patented file management system monitors the wear of the files by means of important criteria such as speed, torque and duration of use. These parameters are converted into a code number which indicates the wear of the file. The curva-ture of the root canal can be added as an additional criterion.
For each individual file, the dentist can set a limit value triggering off a “file alarm”. Once the code number exceeds the preset limit value, the following sign will appear on the display:

The determined wear-related data remain saved even when the device is switched off. They will show up once again when the file is used the next time. A total of up to six boxes of files with an unlimited num-ber of different files can be managed.

The objective of each endodontic treat-ment is a tightly sealed filling of the prepared root canal. With the EndoPilot comfort plus, a three dimensional, tightly sealed filling can be achieved with the warm, vertical condensation technique.
The DownPack handpiece is used for fill-ing the apical third, whereas the central and coronal third are thermo plastically filled with the BackFill pistol. The light, slim DownPack handpiece is easy to han-dle and allows an unobstructed view of the treatment site. The heating tip heats up within seconds. The temperature can be liberally chosen on the display.
Information on the heating process is pro-vided by integrated, coloured LED lights. The heating tips are available in different sizes.
The handy BackFill pistol is intended for an optimal filling of the central and coro-nal third of the canal. It is ideally suited for controlling the flow rate of the liquid gutta-percha. Different temperatures can be chosen on the display. Thanks to the powerful control, the heating times are extremely short.
Standard gutta-percha pellets are used as filling material. Cannulae of various sizes are available to apply the liquefied gutta-percha pellets.

Possible operational sequence with the DownPack and BackFill1. Fit master point into the canal to the full working length2. Shorten master point as required3. Apply sealer to the shortened master point and insert into the canal. Alternatively, the sealer can also be inserted into the canal on its own with a Lentulo spiral (fig. no. 17821 or 17825)
4. Cut the master point as close to the apical end as possi-ble with the DownPack heating tip5. Condense with a manual spreader (fig. no. 17225) or Nav-iflex spreader (fig. no. NTD11T or NTD 11T25). Alterna-tively, press the DownPack heating tip on the apical resi-due of the severed master point for approx. 2 – 3 seconds, to thermo plastically soften it. Then hold the heating tip in the same position while applying slight pres-sure. Allow the heating tip to cool down for a few seconds and use to condense the soft gutta-percha. Then reheat the heating tip very briefly (1 second) and remove from the canal immediately. The cooled-down gutta-percha remains in the apical third of the canal.
6. Fill the canal a few millimetres with the BackFill pistol and the gutta-percha pellets, from apical to coronal 7. Condense with a manual spreader8. Fill the canal with the BackFill pistol and the pellets a few more millimetres, again from apical to coronal. Condense once again with a manual spreader.
Repeat the above procedure until the canal is completely filled.
