BIKE GUIDE ENDURO Enduro, here, means endless flow, technical descents and a spectacular view of the Flims mountain landscape. Ideally, you have a full-suspension bike with 140 to 170 millimetres of suspension travel. Enduro bikes are stable enough for the descent, while at the same time being light enough to pedal uphill. Part of the uphill journey can be covered using cable cars, shuttle buses or the PostBus. But no pain, no gain: if you really want to get the most out of the single trails, however, a little muscle power is called for. Crap Sogn Gion with its cable car, for example, can be used as a starting point for exploring the Alpine and technical single trails the mountain has to offer. The transport facilities enable riders to reach one trail after the other and enjoy the ultimate flow experience. FREERIDE The cable cars take you and your bike conveniently to the start of the trails. And this is where the fun starts. Do banked curves, jumps and technical stretches get your pulse racing? Then you have come to the right place. Beginners approach the business at a slightly slower pace, and use the perfectly shaped tabletops and banked curves on the TREK Runcatrail for their first taste of success with jumps and flowing turns. More challenging, but with at least as much flow and action, is the newly built Never End trail. The Trek Slash or the Trek Session are the perfect bike partners, and will guarantee you a safe and fun ride down into the valley. GUIDED BIKE TOURS Fancy discovering the highlights of the resort with a bike guide? The Emprova Bikeschool in Flims offers a varied programme with individual guided tours and biking technique training for beginners and the more advanced. The programme is repeated on a weekly basis at the same times and condi- tions. These one-and-a-half- or two-hour courses are ideal for an introduction to biking, while further courses can then be booked with the guides directly. It is well worthwhile booking an individual course or tour to discover the region in more detail, while improving your technique at the same time, or spend time getting more comfortable with an e-bike. The following materials are the basic equipment for all courses: weather-appropriate clothes, helmet, gloves, a bike in good condition and food and drink. Unless otherwise arranged, the meeting point is at the following address: Emprova Bikeschool, Via Nova 70, 7017 Flims Dorf i Further information at flims.com, emprova.ch and at Guest Information Flims Laax Falera CROSS-COUNTRY Forest and dirt roads are your terrain. The altitude that you cover on your descent is the same that you powered through on your hardtail or fully with up to 140 millimetres of suspension travel during the ascent, using nothing but your own physical strength. There is a huge network of bike trails available. Are you fit enough for a tour lasting several hours into the high-alpine terrain? Then we highly recommend the tours to the Vorab. Less arduous, but just as spectacular, are the family-friendly trails in the magical Flims forest. Enjoy the winding trails in the cool forest and be enchanted by the sparkling turquoise lakes. E-BIKE An invitation to linger. An e-bike is the ideal piece of equipment for anyone wishing to take a relaxed approach to exploration, helping you to make your way up the mountain with ease and enjoy the magnificent views. The e-bike trail network will conveniently take you to a whole host of beautiful places that are inaccessible by car or public transport. Modern e-bikes such as the Trek Powerfly+ FS open up so many more doors, enabling you to reach the trails in a much more relaxed way but with just as much fun. Thanks to the e-bike charging stations available throughout the region, you will be able to recharge your bike’s battery while you are out and about. The matching charger cable for your bike will be available at the station. SOMMER 2016

Natur purBeeindruckend und viel-fältig. Abwechslungsreich und faszinierend.

Family-FunDie Vielzahl an Erlebnis-Möglichkeiten garantiert Spass für Gross und Klein.

ENDUROCREST LA SIALA 108

Travel comfortably with the cable car from Murschetg to the Crap Sogn Gion or ride up from Falera under your own power, either way only a few more vertical metres remain between you and the drop-in. Upon arrival at the trails’ starting point, you have a wonderful view from the Vorab glacier over the Flimserstein and the village of Flims below. The trail starts out demanding from the get-go as it passes technical and challenging terrain on a rocky single track down to the creek. Along the creek the trail continues to the meadow at Plaun where several possibilities for further adventure are available to choose from.

FREERIDENEVER END 695

The freeride trail from Crap Sogn Gion (2.228 m) to Laax (1.020 m) promises the very best action. The 7-kilometre route is technically challenging, and provides the perfect flow experience from one banked curve to the next.

TREK RUNCATRAIL 694

The TREK Runcatrail from Naraus to Flims is an inter-mediate trail that offers a great deal of variety for experienced riders and beginners alike. It was awarded the Flow Country Trail label by the IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association). At 6 kilometres, the Trek Runca Trail is one of the longest trails of its kind in Europe.

CROSS COUNTRYRUINAULTATOUR 260

Anyone who completes this round trip in one day has earned some serious bragging rights. For those who wish to enjoy the wonderful landscapes of the Rhine River gorge, it is recommended to divide the tour into daily stages. At a slower pace you can enjoy the offerings of lakes Cauma and Cresta to the fullest. Accommodations along the bike tour are plentiful. The trail offers not only a varied landscape, but varied paths as well: from paved roads and forest roads to single track.

ALP MORA 251

From Porclis through Trin village and then left towards Alp Mora. Now it’s a climb to Tegia Culm at 2250 metres. A trip to the moulins in Val Maliens is well worth the effort before returning on a downhill stretch to the Bargis valley (not signposted). This is a challenging tour for very good riders that are not scared of heights.

E-BIKEBARGIS 250

This route turns left at the Flims village Guest Information towards Fidaz. A mountain stretch on tarmacked roads leads to the remote high-lying valley of Bargis.

Turn left towards Foppa at the hotel Bellevue in Flims village. Then towards Startgels, the highest point of the tour. From there back to Flims on forestry tracks. For families, there is also the option to use the chair lift from Flims to Foppa.

THREE-LAKES TOUR 246 Tour particularly suitable for families with children.

Directly through the old growth forest of Flims, this tour leads from the ancient Flims rock slide to the edge of the Rhine River gorge. Along the way you will find the alpine lakes Cauma and Cresta, where you can take a break and cool down with a swim. The trail begins at the parking area of Staderas, located between Flims and Laax. The tour passes through the forest of Flims, providing views of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Sardona, containing the impressive Tschingelhorn and Flimserstein. It continues past the picturesque Cauma Lake and onward to the viewing platform in Conn. Enjoy the breathtaking panorama.

CRAP MASEGN 109

Upon exit from the Gondola, the first few vertical metres follow a broad mountain road up to the top of the Crap Masegn. From here the single track excitement begins. Through a very rocky, at times blocky, landscape with creek crossings over barren alpine meadows the trail reaches the narrow single tracks to Plaun. From here you have the option to follow further single tracks to the valley below, or up toward Nagens / Segnes hut. A special alpine experience demanding plenty of skill.

NARAUS PANORAMIC TRAIL 110 From the station at Naraus the first few vertical metres must be undertaken on foot over an alpine meadow. Once you overcome the steep climb, the trail makes a gradual ascent to the bottom of the Segnesboden. From here, it is only a short hop to the Segneshütte, and the Alp Nagens. This trail should not be ridden from July to October, between 10:00 and 16:00, due to an increased volume of hikers present.

SUCKLER COWS Due to natural livestock farming in the area, paths and pastureland may cross. Suckler cows are extremely protective. Please observe the following rules:

Make sure you stay on hiking trails when crossing grazing land. Leave animals alone and do not stroke calves under any circumstances. Quietly walk past animals, maintaining a safe distance of 20 to 50 metres. Keep dogs on a lead and release in an emergency. When animals approach, remain calm and slowly leave the pastureland.

LIVESTOCK GUARDIAN DOGSWolves and lynx have now returned to this region, and shepherds are there fore using livestock guardian dogs to protect their animals. You may come across them in the Bargistal valley and on Alp Mora. If you are approached by a livestock guardian dog that is barking and blocking your way, this is an entirely natural reaction. Remember the following:

Keep calm and give the dog time to see that you are not a threat to the flock or herd.

If you are cycling, dismount and push your bike. Avoid disturbing the flock or herd of animals. Keep your distance and try to skirt around them where possible.

If the dog follows you, ignore it – it will soon return to the flock or herd. Keep dogs on a lead and release in an emergency. Do not try to pass through a protected flock or herd with your dog but skirt around them. If in doubt, turn around.
