Roger Ward of The Victorian Chop House Company recentlypurchased Memorial Hall in Albert Square in Manchester.

The grade II listed building, has been sympatheticallyrejuvenated to house an impressive £3.5m restaurant and hotel.

William Dyer Electrical (UK) Ltd is proud to have completed theelectrical installations for the project which took place in twophases.

The five storey building houses a restaurant and function roomoccupying the first three floors of the impressive Venetian Gothicbuilding with a boutique hotel in the remaining floors.

Memorial Hall is situated in Albert Square which is stooped in historyand surrounded by iconic architecture.

Architects from Hurd Rolland Partnership and the owners worked closelywith English Heritage during the design and planning stages to ensurethat the transformation of Memorial Hall is in keeping with thebuilding’s character.

The completed project has brought the historic building back to its’original grandeur and given a new lease of life to the heart of the city'smain square.

William Dyer Electrical (UK) Ltd is a specialist electrical contractor for the energy efficient refurbishment of Grade II listedbuildings. They have worked on a number of refurbishments of Grade II listed buildings to restore the properties to their formerglory whilst ensuring that the most energy efficient installations are carried out in a manner in keeping with the original featuresof the buildings. Energy consumed in occupied properties is accountable for almost 50% of the UK’s CO2 emissions. Furthermore, 22% of theemissions are produced in public and commercial properties. Of these properties, a significant amount of them were built before1919 which means that many of the measures installed are dated and inefficient in energy terms.

The Government aims to improve the energy efficiency within existing buildings and with the support of planning authorities andguidance from English Heritage, energy efficiency improvements can be made to UK listed buildings enabling them to complywith new legislation (Part L of the Building Regulations).
