Fulton Hogan’s experience in earthmoving and civil construction is pivotal in meeting the challenges of the earthworks associated with the

Australia Pacific LNG project which includes clearing 160 Ha of land, stripping of acid sulphate soils and cut and fill of over 3 million cubic metres

of earthworks. Additionally, at the peak of this contract up to 300 staff and materials were required to be barged across to Curtis Island every day.

Fulton Hogan designed and constructed a six megawatt hydro power

station, 15 kilometres of transmission lines and 34 kilometres of pipeline

at Arthurs Dam in central Tasmania.

Over 300 staff and their mobile equipment were required to complete the civil and earthworks for the Australia Pacific LNG Plant at Curtis island.

Since 2005 Fulton Hogan has supplied over 1.8 million litres of DustBloc®, our specialty dust suppression product, to the Goonyella Riverside coal mine

to treat 16km of haul road. The project was initiated to improve road quality, but proved to be useful in saving water and reducing costs. DustBloc is

a stable emulsion of bitumen in water. It incorporates a number of special additives which assist its absorption into a range of road materials such as

crushed rock, crushed ores or clay based materials.

Fulton Hogan – a trusted name When Jules Fulton, an assistant surveyor, and Bob Hogan, a mechanic, lost their jobs with an asphalt company at the height of the Great Depression, they seized the opportunity to form their own quarrying and asphalt surfacing company.

From these modest beginnings in 1933, their company has grown to become a major player in the Australian and New Zealand civil construction market that today turns over in excess of of $2b per annum, with over 5000 employees. However, the company’s values remain true to its founders’ vision and it remains mostly owned by the founding families and employees.

Fulton Hogan’ completed the $14.5 million Moranbah Airport upgrade in April 2011. The airport is owned and operated by the BHP Billiton Mitsubishi

Alliance, with the primary purpose of flying mining staff to and from Moranbah. Work included construction of a new taxiway and apron and

overlaying the existing runway.

Territory

The 47.3 kilometre Angurugu to Umbakumba Road was completed in

August 2012. As well as providing an all-weather link between Groote

Eylandt’s two main communities, the road also serves the large BHP

Billiton Maganese mine on the island. Everything needed for the

project, located 50km off the coast of the Northern Territory, had to

be shipped by barge from Darwin, a trip of at least four days in ideal

conditions.

Barrow Island Runway, Western AustraliaClient: Ertech

Fulton Hogan was appointed by Ertech to repair and resurface the Barrow

Island runway as part of the Gorgon natural gas project. Barrow Island is

a Class ‘A’ nature reserve and home to 24 species of fauna that are not

found anywhere else in Australia. To comply with the island’s world’s best

quarantine inspection standards everything was completely cleaned and

wrapped in plastic prior to deployment to the island, including the mobile

asphalt plant.

Frank and Ignatius, members of the local Indigenous community employed

on the $22m Bul Bul Bridge construction at Daly River in the Northern Territory.

This project went on to win the Northern Territory Civil Contractors Federation
