Chhabi's intelligent high-frequency switch mode DC
power system is a highly reliable product with
modular design. It is adjustable to various power
networks with super-wide voltage input range.
Rectifier modules being hot-pluggable are convenient
for online maintenance with the cutting-edge soft
switching technology. These rectifiers features high
efficiency with low EMI. Low difference active load
sharing of rectifiers ensures inter-rectifier imbalance
rate of only 3%. An inbuilt power correction is
provided, along with temperature compensation of
Battery charging voltage. CE and EMC certifications
additionally ensure their reliability and safety.
At CEPL, this range is offered in the basic modules :
110 V -10 / 20 / 40 A
220 V - 20 A / 30 A / 40 A
With a very high efficiency, they respond dynamically
for step loads.
Central Monitor is provided with embedded INTEL
CPU as main processor to realize coordination work
of all equipment of power distribution monitoring,
Rectifier module, Feeder insulation monitoring,
battery monitoring and so on. Advanced battery
management program executes intelligent
management. With embedded multi standard
protocols to communicate with the host, the system
can select parameters to report through host
software. The system is applicable to all level power
plants and high-level power substations
Modular DC Power System
Main Features :
Built In Redundancy
Modular DC power supply systems are having built
in parallel redundant structure to match the power
requirements. By adding one (n+1) or more (n+X)
redundant modules the load power is secured even
case of module failures. In case of module failure
alarm is generated for the operator attention. In non-
modular (standalone)systems the redundancy can
only be achieved by TWO complete systems, each
capable of handling the complete load. With a
modern modular system the same level of
redundancy can be achieved by adding one single
module. This of course dramatically reduces the
initial investment and still offers more flexibility.
Scalability
While designing the power system in the initial stage,
it is always challenge to find the exact power
requirement of the entire connected loads.
Additionally, the future power requirement is also to
be taken in to account with the possible additional
loads. Standalone charger systems can only be
Introduction
purchased with a given maximum rating. For future
expansion beyond this, the options are either a
completely new larger system or a new complete
system connected in parallel. Both these options are
not attractive considering the investment and space
restrictions. For modular DC Power systems on the
other hand, one can easily prepare for future
expansion by including pre-wired empty slots for
additional modules. Typically this will already be
included or can be achieved at a very little additional
cost. Being faced with an increasing demand for
more power during the operation or with the
necessity to connect additional consumers to the
system, the customer only needs to purchase the
required modules and integrate them into the
existing system. So, the performance of the system
grows in line with the needs and requirements of the
user. System, output power and, consequently, the
investments are "scalable".
Modularity
Standalone charger systems are available
completely mounted in a system cabinet. Generally
there is logistic problem while transporting them
from manufacturing place to the installation site,
especially if the site is having accessibility problems.
Modular DC power systems, however, are supplied
and commissioned with a pre-wired cabinet with very
low weight. The power supply modules are installed
into the provided sub racks after the system being
completely mounted. Thus, the delivery, moving of
the cabinets to the instillation site become as easier.
Especially in order to increase the availability or the
power output performance, additional modules can
be equipped without special expertise later on.
 Basic modules Available :
110 V -10 / 20 / 40 A
220 V - 20 A / 30 A / 40 A
Parallel operation of modules with automatic
current sharing
Very high stability and very low level of ripple
of output voltage
 Overload and short-circuit electronic protection
Very good time response for step load
High efficiency at different loading conditions
 Temperature compensation of
battery charging voltage
 Ability to set modes -
FLOAT charge, BOOST charge operation
 Highly reliable
System Characteristics
 Electromagnetic interference compliance
(EMI filter)
 Disconnected battery control system
Individual panels for monitoring of the modules
and general panel for the battery charger
 LCD display with touch screen
Wide range of alarm signals and
configurable alarm relays
RS 485 with modbus protocol interface for
remote monitoring of the battery charger
Ability to replace the modules individually
without turning off the battery charger
 Save 200 Alarms.
Save 48 Nos work loss without affecting power
failure
Hot Swappable The rectifier is designed to be plug-and-play. There will be no
arcing and the terminals will not be damaged when
inserting / removing the rectifier from a live DC power system.
Active Load Sharing The rectifier uses advanced digital active load sharing
technology that maintains balancing to within ±3 %.
Adjustable Output Voltage The output voltage can be set through the front-end
embedded controller. The accuracy is ±0.5 V & 0.2A
Input Over / Under The rectifier will shut down and its protection indicator (yellow)
Voltage Protection will light up when the input voltage is lower or higher than
preset Voltage
Output Over Voltage Protection The rectifier will shut down when its output voltage is higher
(HVSD)than HVSD set point.
The rectifier also has two additional software settings that can
be configured using the controller :
1) Manual restart, and
2) Automatic restart attempt within
5 seconds of a HVSD condition.
High Temperature Protection The rectifier will limit its power of the rated output capacity
when internal temperature becomes higher.
Over Current Protection The output current can not increase infinity. If over loaded the
output voltage decreases automatically to protect the power
component. The over current protection can be resumed
automatically.
Fan Fault Protection When the heat sink temperature is goes beyond 85 degree C
the charger module gets shutdown to protect itself.
Unbalance of Rectifier When the output current of the rectifiers in a DC power system is
Output Current unbalanced, the rectifier whose output current is unbalanced will
be identified automatically and its protection indicator (yellow)
will light up.
