The Ponsse EH25’s structure has been ingeniously designedto meet the demands of both efficient harvesting and fast,easy loading technology. Sincethe EH25 is high and stable in thecutting position, bundles of logs canalso be moved vertically.centre of gravity in the loadingposition is extremely near thehanging pivot, which makes forstable, precise loading movement.

The cutting device cylinder is fitted witha rapid-motion valve, which speeds upthe cutting stage, especially whencutting small trees.

When cutting trees, the guillotine bladein the grapple extends outwards fromits housing at a distance equal toapproximately the diameter of the log.Thanks to a floating position, the powercutting and compression forces are notdirected at the actual grapple frame.

The EH25 combinesefficiency and intelligence

The EH25 harvester head for multi-stemcutting can collect several logs of up to amaximum diameter of 30 cm (12 in) at thesame time. Harvester head control on verycramped logging sites is excellent since thecentre of gravity is sufficiently far enoughaway from the hanging pivot. This alsofacilitates the use of a scale because brakehangers are unnecessary.

A strong tilt also enables the bundlescollected to be raised to a vertical position,which in turn facilitates working in difficult,

cramped conditions, thus avoiding damageto trees left standing. Tilt inclination can besmoothly adjusted to enable the optimumhandling of skewed logs. Its ingenious tiltinggeometry gives the EH25 excellent loadingcharacteristics. Its lightness and low structureenable it to act in almost the same way asa conventional loading grapple.

Based on guillotine cutting, the new Ponsse EH25 is a harvester headfor multi-stem handling that has been especially engineered to harvestenergy wood. The Ponsse EH25 has been innovated and tested togetherwith end-users. This has spawned a state-of-the-art harvester head ofunrivalled dependability and practical application. Aside from technicaldependability, careful R&D has given rise to a harvester head boastingcompletely new features. The EH25’s finely executed details make it areal energy wood harvesting power pack capable of high performanceeven on challenging logging sites. Since it can be mounted on manydifferent forest machine bases, the Ponsse EH25 provides a host ofoptions for flexible wood harvesting.

During the cutting stage, the grapplegrips the tree and the guillotine cuts it. Inconjunction with the cutting movement thelog passes automatically to the collectionclaws. A host of automatic functions aredesigned to make the machine simple tooperate.

When taking additional logs, thecollection claws hold the cut log in thegrapple. The operation continues until thegrapple is full. The guillotine blade servesas a guard to prevent the cut logs fromslipping downwards when working.

Tilt facilitates loading

The cutting blade is closed during loadingand pivoted behind the frame. The harvesterhead’s tilt function also facilitates loadingefficiency and ease, enabling even largebundles to be raised into an upright position.

During the cuttingstage, the grapplegrips the tree and theguillotine cuts it.

In conjunction withthe cutting movementthe log passesautomatically into thecollection claws.

When felling morelogs the collectionclaws hold the cutlogs in the grapple.

The operationcontinues until thegrapple is full.

The guillotine bladeacts as a guardpreventing the cutlogs from slippingdownwards whenworking.
