Enfuse 2016 Conference LCDI Media Plan Intro: This is a media centered plan for LCDI guests of EnFuse 2016 to use in order to appropriately use social media platforms to boost LCDI exposure and name recognition. Most of these are guidelines, but there are some rules that MUST be followed and will be marked as such. This is to make sure that everyone is consistent with the presentation of his or her content. Please feel free to ask Maddie Bell, Joseph Williams, or Alex Caron if you have any questions concerning this media plan. The two main goals for social media at the conference are as follows: 1. Have consistent content to give the LCDI a broad and stable brand image. 2. Be the first to share! The quicker we are to upload interesting events, quotes, pics, etc., the more people our posts will influence! Twitter: Twitter will need to have the heaviest amount of use. If you do not have a Twitter account, please consider opening one just for this event. The ideal would be to have each LCDI member upload at least one tweet per day of the conference. Rules: 1. All tweets MUST include these things: @champforensics, #enfuse2016 a. If there is room, please also include @EnfuseCon and/or #LCDIatEnfuse 2. Tweets must fit in these themes:

Enfuse 2016 ConferenceLCDI Media Plan

Intro:

This is a media centered plan for LCDI guests of EnFuse 2016 to use in order to appropriately use social media platforms to boost LCDI exposure and name recognition.

The two main goals for social media at the conference are as follows:1. Have consistent content to give the LCDI a broad and stable brand

image.2. Be the first to share! The quicker we are to upload interesting events,

quotes, pics, etc., the more people our posts will influence!

Twitter:

Twitter will need to have the heaviest amount of use. If you do not have a Twitter account, please consider opening one just for this event. The ideal would be to have each LCDI member upload at least one tweet per day of the conference.

Rules:

1. All tweets MUST include these things: @champforensics, #enfuse2016a. If there is room, please also include @EnfuseCon and/or

#LCDIatEnfuse2. Tweets must fit in these themes:

a. Learning Something New – share a fun fact that you learned, people you happen to meet, etc.

b. Events – What is the event you are attending, where is the coolest talk happening, hidden gems of the conference that others might want to know about, etc.

c. Live Tweeting Spree – Attending a talk? Live tweet it! This gives EVERYONE extra exposure, you the LCDI, the conference and the speaker!

i. TIP: Use quotation marks when directly quotingd. Local Fare – Share your favorite place to eat! Did you shop anywhere

or go see a show? This is the time to help other conference attendees find things to do outside of Enfuse!

Guidelines:

1. Use pictures or short videos when you can. Both of these things statistically increase the amount of exposure your tweet will get.

2. Make your tweets helpful. People who view your tweet should be benefitting in some way.

3. Ask questions, you might get some answers!4. If you take a pic or video of someone that you know, try to tag them in it!5. Remember these three audiences when writing your tweets:

a. People at the conferenceb. People who weren’t able to attendc. People who may see your tweet by chance and find their way to the

LCDI6. Other suggested hashtags:

a. #vegasvisit, #vegas, #lasvegasblvd, #forensics, #Champlain, @ChamplainCollege, etc.

Go Pro Videos

The LCDI will be providing some of the conference goers with go pro cameras to record videos. The purpose of these cameras is to collect enough video material to piece together a video documenting the LCDI’s experience at Enfuse 2016.

If you have a camera, please try to record five-ten minutes of video each day of the conference. The idea is to have about forty-five minutes to an hour of video content to edit down after Enfuse 2016.

Below are some guidelines for those operating the go pro cameras.

Guidelines:

1. Take short videos of any talks you attend. Get shots of speakers at their podiums/mics. Shots of the crowds.

2. Take videos of you participating in any lab activities.3. Take long shots of walking through crowds. We want this to be a “walking

through experience” video, so having good travelling shots would be beneficial. Make sure they are more than ten seconds long.

4. Record other LCDI conference goers hanging out, going to LV landmarks, and other non-digital forensics related activities.

5. If you are attending Jon Rajewski’s events, speak with Madeline Bell before to coordinate some specific shots that are wanted for both the LCDI Enfuse 2016 video and for Jon’s personal use.

Instagram

The second primary form of social media – besides Twitter – for the LCDI’s Media Plan is Instagram. This platform is efficient for posting photos and there is no

character limit. Below are some basic rules for posting on Instagram and also guidelines to help get the most out of your posts!

Rules:

1. Use all of the hashtags that you can.a. Include: #LCDIatEnfuse, #EnfuseCon, @champforensics (the LCDI has

an Instagram account now), @guidancesoftware, #EnCase, #LasVegasBlvd, #EnFuse2016, and any other you feel are applicable to this theme.

2. Make sure your images are clear on what you want to convey. If an image is too blurry, unfocused, or has too much going on in it, an audience member will likely pass you by while scrolling through images

3. Tag the LCDI account (@champforensics) and Guidance Software (@guidancesoftware) in all of your conference photos

4. Tag any other conference goers that you recognize in your photos.

Guidelines:

1. Instagram is more of a lifestyle platform of social media. Images should be more casual or something special.

a. Examples could be: the food you get at a cool restaurant, the keynote speaker at the conference, nightlife you go to, people you meet and who (ideally) give you permission to take and post a photo of them.

b. Twitter can be more business-like, with more terminology usage and a focus on the conference.

2. Refer to your Instagram posts on Twitter and vice versa!3. You can also post short videos. However, most Instagram users do not watch

videos for long periods of time on this platform, so keep them under 20 seconds if you do post a video.

Facebook

Facebook will not be a priority form of social media during the conference. However, if you do choose to post on Facebook, please follow these guidelines for ideal exposure (using Facebook for the LCDI is completely optional, as it is not a preferable platform for gaining exposure for the conference and the LCDI).

Guidelines:

1. Rather than posting, use this conference as a networking opportunity. Friend the people you meet on Facebook and tell them about the LCDI while speaking with them in person. This gives both yourself and the LCDI great exposure in the digital forensics/computer science/cyber security communities.

Page 4: Enfuse 2016 Conference Media Plan

2. Use the same Hashtags that you use on Twitter and Instagram. a. i.e. #LCDIatEnfuse, #EnfuseCon, #CampChamp, #LasVegasBlvd,

#Enfuse20163. Again, you are definitely not required to post things on Facebook that

support the LCDI’s Media Plan for the conference.

Blogging

If you are going to be a blogger during the conference, I will ask for two posts. One will be during Enfuse 2016 and you can talk about what you’ve done so far and include any pictures you may have taken. The second blog post will be a conclusion post, where you can summarize your experience, the benefits you think it will have on you, and what you look forward to in the next year.

Madeline Bell will be editing them and posting them as soon as possible, so she will need them relatively quickly. You may want to write your first blog post during the second day so she can upload that night. Madeline would just want your conclusion blog within three or four days after the conference (but you may want to write it on the plane ride home!).

These blogs do not need to be long at all. Shoot for approximately 450 words and a picture or two. If you have any questions, reach out to Madeline.
