Missionary New Media
An Electronic Evangelism Director would
be responsible for the day to day running
of the online life of the parish. This
position would be designed to enhance
the online presence of Nativity Catholic
Church, and to develop the tools and
trainings necessary to involve all points of
ministry with all possible interested
communities. The projects of this position
would be designed as a bridge between
the hectic modern life online and the
physical church. All of the pojects will be
designed to draw people to the physical
church as that is the true community.
Director of Electronic Evangelism
An individual who is responsible for
digitally proclaiming the Gospel by
employing the latest generation of
audiovisual resources (i.e., images,
videos, animated features, blogs,
websites). Basically, he/she is a
missionary digital disciple for non-
traditional media (meaning the digital
world). The Pastoral New Media
Specialist ought to be knowledgeable and
competent in social media, web design,
and/or educational technology. In
addition, he/she must have good
communication skills and love for all
things online and digital. Training of
others is very important.

Stages of Social MediaPOTS – PLOTS – PLANTATIONS
1. POTS: Test and learn, experimenting with
diverse and separate initiatives
2. PLOTS: Formalized structures and
processes, along with increased investment,
begin to take hold. Culture change becomes
more deliberate through new hires,
employee training, and shifts in roles and
responsibilities.
3. PLANTATIONS: Social media activities and
thinking are integrated into the core
business and aligned with the strategy; the
organization has reinvented itself without
losing the essentials of its MINISTRY .
Stages of Social MediaSome people breeze through, others take more time and still others get stuck along
the way and never advance to GO!
Today’s MinistersWhere Are They With Technology?
We go there because that is where the people are. And where the
people are, there the Gospel needs to be.

It is training– It is a “language” and a “culture”.
Do we send missionaries to foreign lands without knowing the culture and language?
Q/A TimeEngaging Our Mission Through Technology
? ? ?
. . . if we want to emulate Jesus we
should remember that he went out to
see people, rather than simply letting
them come to him. (He did some of the
latter, but much more of the
former.) The history of Christianity is in
large part the history of the
church using to great effect the latest
media, sometimes even inventing
media, to evangelize.
