    andassiststudentsatriskforsuicide,includingbystandertraining,guidesforrespondingtodistressedstudentsand

    AssistingtheEmotionallyDistressedStudentguideandfacultyhandbookandalsooffertrainingforfaculty,staff,&administratorsonrapidlyassessing,managing,andreferringstudentsin

    psychologicaldistress

    WorkwithUCOPtoincorporatebystandertrainingcampuswideto

    reduceinterpersonalviolence,decreasehighriskdrinking,suicideprevention,

    increaseprosocialbehaviorandcommitmenttoacaringcommunity(e.g.

    QPRstandsforQuestion,PersuadeandRefer, threestepsanyonecanlearntohelppreventsuicide.JustlikeCPR,QPRisanemergencyresponsetosomeoneincrisisandcansavelives.

    QPRisa6090minutetrainingwhereattendeeslearn: Earlyrecognitionofsuicidewarningsigns.Thesoonerwarningsignsaredetectedandhelpsought,thebettertheoutcomeofasuicidecrisiswillbe. EarlyQPR.Askingsomeoneaboutthepresenceofsuicidalthoughtsandfeelingsopensupaconversationthatmayleadtoareferralforhelp. Earlyinterventionandreferral.Referraltolocalresourcesiscritical,asmostpeoplethinkingaboutsuicidearesufferingfromanundiagnosedand/oruntreatedmentalillnessorsubstanceabusedisorderforwhichexcellenttreatmentsexist. Earlyprofessionalassessmentandtreatment. Earlydetectionandtreatmentresultsinbetteroutcomesandfewerliveslosttosuicide.
