COMP Cams® – Leading the Way Through Innovation

The story of COMP Cams® is the story of uncompromising dedication to innovation,R & D and engineering excellence. It’s also the story of the relentless pursuit of cutting-edge technology, equipment, materials, designs, manufacturing methods, and excellent customer service. It is a story that began in Memphis, Tennessee with agroup of five people, in a small space with a single mechanical cam grinder in 1975.

Competition Cams® was founded on a dream of producing the best camshaftsavailable in the marketplace. It began with a vision of being the best. It quicklybecame apparent, however, that reaching the pinnacle in the marketplace wouldrequire a much broader vision than originally believed.

COMP recognized and embraced the philosophy that being the best required “out-of-the-box thinking.” And that's what became the cornerstone to COMP Cams® visionfor designing and manufacturing the best cams.

To achieve this vision meant rethinking how cams were designed and made, whichalso meant a huge dedication to R&D, engineering, new products and new technolo-gy. It also meant forming a team comprised of the absolute brightest people in theworld to make the vision come to life, people with the dedication to excellence andan irrepressible can-do spirit.

Rethinking how cams were being made naturally led to the investigation of makingother valve train parts such as lifters, pushrods and springs. As the process mush-roomed, it encompassed every aspect of product design and manufacturing. All ofthis meant there had to be new and better ways to design, manufacture and meas-ure valve train products. To meet these challenges it took people, equipment andpartnerships.

To fulfill the vision of being the best, a team of engineers was put into place, whichwas quickly followed by new innovations in R&D, manufacturing equipment and man-ufacturing methods. Among the first innovations at COMP was a spin fixture called aSpintron® which was the result of collaboration between COMP and the companybuilding this device. The first of its kind, the Spintron® gave engineers a way to meas-ure the effects of valve train motion on the valve train parts.

This radically new approach to R&D set the stage for further innovations, becauseas each part of the valve train was scrutinized, the limitations of each part came intofocus. That fact meant that COMP engineers now had a new way to observe andevaluate valve train motion, from which new and very non traditional designs havebeen developed. This ability cannot be understated, because the ability to see andunderstand valve motion and the stresses that are applied to the other parts of thevalve train provided COMP with a unique ability to develop designs and total valvetrain packages to meet the ever increasing demands of high performance engines.

To ensure that every design of every valve train part is consistent, COMP has madeenormous investment in high-tech equipment that validates the high tolerance anddesign integrity of each and every part made. Machines like COMP’s two Adcole camcheckers, the most advanced and accurate camshaft measuring equipment avail-able, are but one example of the dedication to leading the industry.

Not only did the technology movement by COMP allow them to see new productsin a new and different light, the continued push for excellence led to discovery anddevelopment of new materials. Here too, as the industry leader, COMP formed part-nerships with the best metallurgists in the world. Out of these partnerships has comethe finest and most technologically advanced materials ever used in the making ofthe parts necessary to meet the demands of today’s racing engine. These materialsare evident throughout COMP’s product line, including an advanced Tool Steel alloyused in the NASCAR Nextel Cup cams, any of their complete line of valve springs andeven in the axle in COMP’s re-engineered Endure-X™ roller lifter.

As better products were developed the need for the very best in manufacturingequipment became a vital link in the process of making the best products. The

3

search for the most technologically advanced equipment has been an ongoingprocess for COMP and as in the case of the Spintron®, other partnerships have beenformed to meet the rising demand for the very best valve train products possible.

Among other partnerships is one formed with Okuma, makers of some of the bestCNC grinding, turning, and machining equipment in the world. Through a collabora-tion of engineers at COMP and Okuma, a new CNC cam grinding machine wasdeveloped that takes camshaft quality to a new level. COMP now has three of thesenew machines, and it has once again rewritten the annals of cam grinding.

Fulfilling the COMP vision of being the best is not just about design, cams, parts, technology, or production equipment; it’s also about having world-class customerservice. As the company has grown COMP’s customer service from the phone technician to the shipping department, it has set the standard for all companies toachieve. Not only does COMP offer the best in customer technical service, it is literally just across the street from the world wide hub of Federal Express. That factprovides COMP with a unique ability to get products where they need to be in astreamlined fashion like no other company in the industry.

Today, innovation remains the centerpiece of the COMP Cams® philosophy andis at the heart of every COMP Performance Group™ company which along withCOMP Cams® includes TCI® Automotive, RHS™, Powerhouse™, ProRacing Sim™,FAST™, and ZEX™.

At the heart of the vision is one of the original founding members of COMP Cams®, Vice President of R&D Scooter Brothers who sums up the COMP story this way:

“From the beginning of our company we have endeavored to be the best, and weknew at the start we had to have a broad vision in order to become the best. Thatmeant a huge dedication to new products, R&D, engineering and new technology.”

“We had to find the engineers to help us learn to work outside the box. Weencouraged out of the norm thinking and set out to provide the tools to achieve ourgoals, tools like our Spintron®, Adcole, and our leading edge Okuma CNCEquipment.”

“Today we have a great team of engineers and our dedication to out-of-the-boxthinking is real. We work with every professional community to find new technologiesso we can continue to be the best. For example, we currently work with universitiesto discover what will be the next tools to aid us in looking at valve train motion.COMP’s goal is to be able to look at valve motion in a real live engine on a racetrack. This is a sample of what we mean as out of the box thinking.”

“At COMP we race companies. One of the biggest challenges and one of themain things that makes COMP different from other companies is that every singlemember of the COMP team wants to win the race. They are each and every onededicated to doing their best and doing the best for the customer. With that level ofcommitment more good players want to join the COMP team, and with all the bestplayers and all the best technology you can win every game and every race.”

“One of the advantages we have is our location. We are not influenced by anygroup of others who are sometimes too much in the forest and cannot see the trees. We have the advantage of looking at things from a fresh point of view and often wesee a new path that others cannot. This has enabled us over the years to work inwhat we consider to be a non conventional R&D situation. That is what allows COMPto do the impossible and make it work.”

“We encourage that kind of thinking and we also don’t limit ourselves to just ourstaff of professionals here at COMP. We actively seek collaboration and partnershipswith the other engineers, product specialists and metallurgist around the world. Aslong as we can involve the best minds we will create the best products.”

“It is our broad view of being the best that helped us begin COMP and it is thatsame view of innovation that will lead us into the next level of being the best.”

Valve SpringsCOMP Cams® leads the industry in development and design of high performance

valve springs. As a result, they have committed enormous resources to the develop-ment of new valve spring designs, new materials and new processing technologies.Following the intense analytical process of valve spring design and material selection,COMP Cams® springs are manufactured to the most demanding requirements in theindustry.

As with any high-quality product, manufacturers are limited by the weakest linkrule; your product is only as good as its weakest feature. That’s why there is a con-stant effort to search out the finest materials available. Metallurgical technology is

growing by leaps and bounds right now, and COMP’s engineers are on the forefrontof this technology. Under the high powered electron microscope, fissures (some-times called inclusions or contamination, usually caused by some of the firebrickfrom the melting process) sometime occur within the metal. This is typically theweakest link in valve spring construction and is the most common cause of prema-ture spring failure. These fissures appear to be the size of the Grand Canyon underthe Scanning Electron Microscope, but in fact, they are only microns wide.Diminishing the occurrence of any contamination inside the wire is one of the keyfeatures COMP Cams® looks for when selecting valve spring steel. The metallurgistsat COMP Cams® scrutinize every inch of wire utilized in the creation of their high per-formance valve springs.

From the time that our valve spring wire is formulated to the time you open thespring box, no detail is overlooked in providing you with the highest quality productavailable anywhere. The valve spring design and manufacturing process are farmore involved that, even most engine builders realize. Selecting the optimum alloy, design, and manufacturing tolerances ensure the best valve spring is not an acci-dent. COMP Cams® has developed a process that creates the highest quality, highperformance valve springs attainable today. This mandates high-quality steel alloy isselected and each step of the valve spring development is scrutinized. The result is aproduct that will complement any engine builder’s best engine and perform as need-ed in the most demanding environments.

COMP has many springs that appear to be almost identical in loads, heights anddiameters. Even some of the best valve springs do not perform optimally if thedesign of the spring does not match the rest of the components and the way theengine is run. COMP has many varieties of springs, and it is just as important tomake the correct choice of design as of material and processing. Make sure tomatch the application to the spring for best results.

Beehive™ Valve Springs■ Ovate wire - More mass on inside of wire■ Beehive™ design minimizes the mass in the most active coils of the spring■ Because coils are different diameters a wider range of frequency is dampenedCOMP Cams® revolutionary new Beehive™ Valve Springs feature the most innovative

spring technology available. Wound from Super Clean™ ovate wire into the unique beehiveshape, they deliver increased valve train stability for more usable engine rpm and better controlof the valve with reduced spring pressure, giving you the best of both worlds. This spring technology is not for high-end all out racing, but for street and mild performance there is nothingbetter. Most of these combinations offer simple and convenient drop-in installation at a pricethat is very affordable.

Ovate wire is used because the highest concentration of stress occurs at the inside of thecoil on the surface of the wire. With the ovate shape there is more material on that surface, thereby allowing the spring to be designed with optimum load concentrations for better fatiguelife. There is very little stress on the outside of the coil on the surface of the wire, so there is noneed for high surface area. This reduces the overall mass of the spring, which improves thedynamic stability of the entire valve train.

The beehive shape of this spring greatly reduces the diameter of the spring at the retainer. This minimizes the mass of the most active coils, and combined with a retainer that weighsabout half as much, the effective mass of the spring assembly is greatly reduced. The progres-sive coil diameters result in a spring with a different frequency at each coil. COMP’s Beehive™spring technology will, without question stabilize a street and mild performance valve trainbeyond anything else available. This results in real measurable horsepower.

Description / Part No. 26915 Designed for LS1, LS2, and LS6 engines when amild improvement over stock is desired. There is very little difference in loadfrom the stock spring, but the performance will be improved.Description / Part No. 26918 Designed for LS1, LS2, and LS6 engines when aperformance cam is used. This spring, when combined with the appropriatetitanium retainer, will outperform almost every spring package in the Gen IIIengine. This spring is designed for a maximum of .600” lift at the valve, so itis the most ideal spring for most street and mild race applications.Description / Part No. 26120 Designed for hydraulic, flat tappet andhydraulic roller applications, it works well in a variety of applicationsrequiring 1.445” springs. This spring was designed to be used on Big BlockChevrolet engines with a hydraulic roller cam. This spring package breaksthrough the rpm limit of around 5,500 that is common in most of the BigBlock engines. It also works well in many Ford and Chrysler applications.Description / Part No. 26113 Designed for Ford 4.6L 2 and 3 valve headengines with .550” lift in model years 1994 and up. This spring is a drop inreplacement for the stock spring and is necessary when changing cams tohigher lift designs. The extra spring loads will allow higher engine speedsand more horsepower.Description / Part No. 26123 Designed for Ford 4.6L 4 valve head engines withup to .500” lift. No machining is required to the cylinder head when installingthis spring. The stock springs will accept almost no increase in valve lift, sowhen changing cams to higher lift designs it is necessary to use this springpackage.Description / Part No. 26924 Designed for Big Block Ford, Chevrolet andChrysler performance hydraulic, flat tappet or hydraulic roller cams with.650” max lift. This spring is a direct drop-in for these engines, especially theChrysler and Ford engines that have a step in the head that must beremoved for a conventional double spring. The package also works well inSmall Block applications when the spring pockets have been enlarged.

Description / Part No. 26981 Designed for stock diameter Small BlockChevrolet hydraulic, flat tappet or hydraulic roller cams with modest liftup to .525”. This is a direct replacement for the old venerable 1.250”diameter 981 spring. It is designed to drop in a stock GM Small Blockhead with around 1.700” installed height and no machine work. Thelower mass and higher frequency of the spring will outperform the standard 981. Description / Part No. 26986 Designed for Small Block Chevrolet, Ford andChrysler hydraulic, flat tappet, or hydraulic roller cams with a lift of up to.575” This spring is designed to be installed at a typical height of 1.800” andwill have around 110 lbs of load at that height. It will directly replace the 984spring that is common in many applications where the spring pocket hasbeen machined to a larger diameter.Description / Part No. 26995 Designed for Oldsmobile, Pontiac and Small BlockChrysler hydraulic, flat tappet, and hydraulic roller cams with shorter installheight with up .600” lift. This spring is designed to be used when the installedheight is around 1.700” and the seat load needed is about 135 lbs. Many ofthese engines have very short valves and require a spring with this setup, and this spring works well in those applications.Description / Part No. 26055 Designed for high lift flat tappet and hydraulicroller cams up to .650” lift. These springs have broad applications includinghigh performance street and oval track applications. This spring sets up at1.900” installed height with a seat load of about 160 lbs. It is 1.585” OD. Mostheads will require spring pocket modification to use this spring.Description / Part No. 26095 Designed for high lift flat tappet and hydraulicroller cams with up to .750” lift. These springs have broad usage, includinghigh performance street, oval track and Harley Davidson applications. Thepackage sets up at 2” installed height and will have about 150 lbs of seatload at that height. The spring is 1.590” OD. Most heads will require springpocket modification to use this spring.

Every COMP Cams® lifter is designed for maximum performance for its application. High-performance lifters meet stringent and exacting standards ofquality, efficiency and longevity. No other company has dedicated more resourcesin the development of the absolute finest and most durable lifters in the marketplace than COMP Cams®.

Endure-X™ Solid Roller LiftersFor years, COMP Cams® Super Roller Lifters have set the standard for solid

roller lifter technology. But today’s engines place a greater demand on lifters, unlike ever before. In keeping with the heightened requirements, COMP Cams®has not only changed the name of this industry standard, but more importantly, enhanced its durability with a series of innovative upgrades.

Most significant among the upgrades is the addition of EDM Oil Injection™technology, which ensures the bearing assembly receives a constant flow of pres-surized oil. Unlike other lifters that offer pressurized oiling only as an upgrade, EDMOil Injection™ technology is standard in every Endure-X™ Solid Roller Lifter. Thisvirtually eliminates needle bearing oil starvation, historically a “problem area” forsolid roller lifters when used in low rpm and street applications. To furtherstrengthen the bearing assembly, the Endure-X™ Solid Roller Lifters also includeneedle rollers that are precision sorted by size, evenly distributing loads to avoidpremature wear and failure.

In addition to the new upgrades, all Endure-X™ Solid Roller Lifters still contain thefeatures that make them the “preferred choice” among performance engine builders.Every lifter is fully heat-treated, machined to ultra-high tolerances and fully rebuildable. The COMP Cams® patented link bar assembly blends all the advantages of a remov-able link bar with the safety of a captured link bar. COMP Cams® Endure-X™ SolidRoller Lifters are available for a variety of applications, including small base circle andoffset applications.

Oil Injection™ Solid Mechanical LiftersWith the increased rpm, additional spring pressure and aggressive cam

designs of today’s performance engines, premature cam wear is a major problem.COMP Cams® has answered the challenge with the new #817 (.841” diameter)and #800 (.841” diameter) solid lifters that feature a precision 0.012” oil feed holein the cam face. The added oiling capacity creates a boundary layer that protectsboth the lifter and cam lobe from excessive wear. Identical to COMP Cams® indus-try standard #833 lifter, but with an enhanced pressure fed oiling feature, the new#800 and #817 retain the proven reliability of the standard lifter.

COMP Cams® VR Roller LifterCOMP’s new VR roller lifter is the ultimate roller lifter available today. The COMP engineers

collaborated with the best metallurgists and bearing people in the world to develop this partand have accepted no compromises in its superior design. The lifter features the common“Keyed” design, making if fully interchangeable with most lifters currently used in the high endoval track and drag racing applications.

The VR lifter is .937” in diameter and features a roller wheel with a diameter of .840”. Thatallows engine builders and cam designers to take full advantage of designs and achieve theadditional horsepower necessary in today’s competitive racing arena. The bearing area iswhere most of the design work was focused. The needles are longer and more precisely sort-ed, so that the extreme loads are evenly spread through a greater surface. The axle is an exot-ic tool steel, which prevents early wear and greatly increases the life of the lifter. The bearing isoiled utilizing a dedicated oil passage to directly infuse oil to the bearing.

Every single feature of COMP’s VR lifter has been re-engineered to ensure maximum lifeand maximum performance. This includes the metallurgical design of all the components, aswell as the tolerances of each of the parts of the lifter. Not one single part of this lifter has beencompromised due to difficulty or cost.

These features make the VR lifter the most durable and reliable part on the market. Whenquality is more important than price, COMP’s VR lifter is the only choice. There is no better partfor the application in the world.

7-Degree Valve LocksCOMP Cams® offers a complete line of stock replacement 7-degree valve locks for stock

engine rebuilds. They are recommended only for street applications with lighter valve springloads. These locks are stamped and hardened for superior wear resistance. Also availablenow are machined 7-degree locks for some applications. They offer the same valve springlocation accuracy as our Super Locks™, without the need to change to 10-degree retainers.

Valve Lash CapsBecause today’s racing engines run at higher and higher rpm levels and the

cam profiles are extremely harsh, the tip of the valve stem is subject to a tremen-dous amount of pounding. These engines are always run just on the brink of valvefloat – one of the most severe conditions that can exist. The best solution to thisproblem is the COMP Cams® lash cap. These lash caps are precision machinedand ground perfectly flat to maintain accuracy of valve train adjustment. They fitthe valve stems well and can be removed with relative ease because of a tiny holeto relieve the suction created when removing the lash cap. The Chrysler Hemiengine has benefited greatly from this design. A special version is available toaccommodate the very short tip on these valves. For the ultimate in strength andreliability, you will not find a better part than the COMP Cams® lash cap.

Valve Spring LocatorsAs with all other parts in the valve train, the area where the spring sits also

takes a beating. The old standard shims simply will not hold up to the extremespring pressures and high rpms found in racing engines being built today. COMPCams® offers a simple but effective solution to this problem; a thin hardenedsteel alloy seat, which will not only protect the head and shim, but also locateand hold the spring in place. Previously, this part has been available only in a cupform with the retaining portion being on the outside. This required that the headbe machined a great deal to accept the cup. A new cup with the locating shoul-der on the inside is now available.

Valve Spring ShimsWhen setting spring height, shims must be used to equalize the installed height

of the valve spring. COMP Cams® spring shims are made of the highest qualityshim stock and heat-treated to stand up to the immense pounding of the radicallobes of today’s cams.

Big Block Chevrolet Seat SpacersLate model Big Block Chevrolet engines are originally equipped with

exhaust valve rotators. Until now the only way to make up for the rotatorwas to stack .300” of shims under the spring. This was not only sloppy, but also did not fit as well as this new part. This will locate the spring withan outside step so the spring cannot “walk” around on the head.

Valve Stem Oil SealsCOMP Cams® offers a complete line of valve stem seals, from the stock GM O-ring to the positive-stop Teflon seal. These seals are a must to keep unwanted

oil from entering the combustion chamber through the clearance in the valve guides. The O-ring seals use the standard retainer and oil splash shield. The umbrellaseal is normally used when a larger-than-stock diameter spring is used. In the case of a double spring, the positive-stop Teflon seal is used. We also have a small-er diameter Viton seal available for triple spring applications. Both the O-ring and the umbrella seals require no machining, but with the Teflon seal it is necessaryto disassemble the heads and machine the top of the guide with a special .530” diameter cutter, which is offered by COMP Cams®.

Hi-Tech™ One Piece PushrodsCOMP Cams® engineers have found that the pushrod is one of the

most important members of the valve train and certainly the most taken forgranted. Prior to extensive research at COMP Cams®, it was thought thatthe pushrod only had to be strong enough not to fail, bend or burn up at theends. Now our engineers have learned that the frequency of the pushrodmust match that of all the rest of the parts in the valve train, as well as therpm at which the engine will be run. Today’s all out unlimited race enginesdeserve the ultimate in quality at every step, and COMP Cams® Hi-Tech™pushrods fill that requirement.

The one piece design from seamless chromemoly tubing ensures theultimate in strength. The ends are precision formed, yielding added thick-ness in the critical tip area for strength, while maintaining constant wallthickness and concentricity.

The pushrods are then heat-treated to ensure compatibility with guideplates and for maximum strength. They are O.D. ground for consistencyand black oxide finished with a length and part number laser etched on theO.D. for ease of identification.

Hi-Tech™ – 3/8” One Piece .065” WallHi-Tech™ pushrods with 3/8” diameter and a .065” wall thickness are made of high quality 4130 chromemoly steel and heat-treated to a minimum hardness of

60 on the Rockwell “C” scale. The use of Finite Element Analysis has helped us design this pushrod for superior performance and endurance. Applications include engines employing mid-range

spring pressures and engine speeds well in excess of 9000 rpm. Because of their increase in natural frequency, these pushrods help tune the valve train when subjecting the valve train to its maximum speed. Spintron® tests show that these pushrods help control valve motion, resulting in capturing lost horsepower due tovalve bounce. They are specifically designed for high performance applications and are available in lengths from 8.150” to 9.250”.

Pro Magnum Roller Rockers™Before we introduced our revolutionary Pro Magnum Rocker Arms™

there were only two alternatives in competition rocker arms: StainlessSteel for strength and reliability or Aluminum for lightweight and lowcost. With the Pro Magnum Rockers™ you get the best of both worlds.

Pro Magnum Rockers™ are made of 8650 chromemoly steel. Thismaterial is some three times stronger than 7075-T6 aluminum which isused for most aluminum rocker arms.

Our engineers used advanced computer technology (including FiniteElement Analysis) to refine the Pro Magnum Rocker™. We addedstrength where it was needed and reduced mass in low stress areas. The result: Pro Magnum Roller Rockers™ have less weight (5%) at the

valve than most aluminum rockers. This means more rpm and valvetrain stability.

The unique design of the Pro Magnum Rocker™ enables us to use alarger trunion with more needle bearings. This spreads the load moreevenly and the rocker will last longer. Other features include an integralpushrod seat that ensures accuracy and saves weight, a unique rockerdesign also provides plenty of clearance for most high performancevalve springs. These rockers are ideally suited for serious street, brack-et racing, super classes, and circle track racing.

Lifetime Guarantee! Pro Magnum Rocker Arms™ are so strong thatwe guarantee the rocker bodies for life against breakage.

Hi-Tech™ StainlessHi-Tech™ Stainless Steel Rockers are the toughest rockers in racing. That’s why

they’re the choice of professional racers. We use 15-5 PH stainless steel-a premiumalloy that’s high in Nickel and Chromium. This superior material gives Hi-Tech™ rockers outstanding yield strength and exceptional fatigue resistance. Our stainlessrocker arms are extra rigid (tested at 52,000 pounds/inch) to resist power-robbingdeflection.

Hi-Tech™ rockers are engineered to minimize reciprocating weight-that meansmore rpm and longer valve train life.

They’re designed for race-winning durability, too. Our engineers specified extralarge trunions and more needle bearings to spread out the load and reduce wear. Hi-Tech ™ Stainless Steel Rockers are available in ratios to suit every camshaft pro-file. Our stainless rockers are rebuildable, too. They’re an investment that pays big dividends in performance and dependability.

Narrow Body Aluminum Roller Rocker ArmsCOMP Cams® narrow body aluminum rocker arms offer the same

advantages as our superior aluminum roller rocker arms but with a nar-rower body. This narrower body specifically allows this rocker arm to fitthe later style Chevrolet engines with the center bolt valve covers.

Precision Fuel Injectors■ State of the art magnetics improve

injector opening times for better throttleresponse

■ Precision ground pintle and wide sprayangle deliver optimum fuel atomization

■ Redesigned valve body improves hotstarts and resist clogging

Air/Fuel Meter Measure your engine’s air/fuel ratio with two sensors, not one with

the new and revolutionary first two-sensor, wide-band air/fuel meter. TheFAST™ Air/Fuel Meter uses a sensor in both of your engine’s exhaust out-lets (not just one sensor like competitive air/fuel meters) to get the fullstory on the state of your engine’s tune. With the meter, you can readboth exhaust sensors individually or average them together for superaccurate readings of the engine’s true air/fuel ratio. For racers on a budg-et, a single sensor version is available that can later be upgraded to thetwo-sensor technology.

Easy to use, the meter includes a simple, built-in data-logger thatdoesn’t require you to download to a laptop. It simply plays back yourinformation on the unit’s display screen in real-time. Advanced featuresinclude outputs for external data-loggers and digital gauges, as well as anarrow-band simulator function that allows you to feed your engine’scomputer a factory signal while using the wide-band sensor for air/fuelmeasurement.

Advance Master Timing LightWhen accurate timing is a matter of life or death for your race engine,

then the Powerhouse® Advance Master Timing Light is the right choice. Inserious racing applications, such as Nextel Cup, a 1/2-degree in ignition timing can mean the difference between engine failure and win-ning the race. And in drag racing engines, improper timing can lead tosluggish reaction times and harmful engine detonation. That’s whyPowerhouse® Products has developed the Advance Master Timing Lightfor performance applications, that produces precision timing accuracywithin a 1/2-degree. This precision unit incorporates a cutting-edge laserpointer instead of old antiquated timing light technology and a precision“repeating strobe” light that mounts directly to your engine block. In addi-tion, the Advance Master features a large face digital pad which allowsthe driver to read the timing while sitting in the car, or it can be mountedunder the hood for quick checks.

Pro Crankshaft Turning SocketsWhen slipped on the end of a crankshaft, these specially designed sockets let you use a 1/2" drive ratchet or

breaker bar to rotate the engine assembly. Our sockets also have the unique feature of a provision to hold our degreewheels or any wheel with a 1" or larger center hole. The knurled retaining nut actually sandwiches the degree wheel andholds it in place. This can then be loosened while on the crank snout so that you can turn the degree wheel independentof the engine, which is really handy when finding TDC.
