Customer Background
The customer is emerged from the Polymer Research Centre
(PRC) at the University of Surrey in 2006. They are multi-
disciplinary science and technology company, specializing in
research support, technical consulting and innovative product
development. The customer undertakes programmes of
research across many fields, most notably power systems,
economic and environmental analysis of systems, new materials
and new methods.

Challenge
• The customer needs a solid performance PC system to be used
for communicating engine data back to the UK via a serial-
satellite link.
• They need RS-485, Ethernet switch, Intel® Atom-Based, RTC,
and work in Debian Linux to communicate with their satellite
modem and GPS terminal by using serial ports.
• Simply, they need a total solution PC to replace the Raspberry
Pi + serial server + network switch + modem, ease to manage
cabling deployment and also save more spaces from the control
box.
