1. Paris

Paris is the capital city of France. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is

also one of the world's most crowded cities. Lovely gardens and parks are foundthroughout Paris. At night, many palaces and statues are lit up. For this reason, Paris is

often called the City of Light.

Every year, millions of people visit Paris. The most popular place to visit is the Eiffel

Tower. This huge structure has become the symbol of Paris. The Louvre, one of theworld's largest art museums, draws many visitors. The Cathedral of Notre Dame, a

famous church, is another favourite place to visit.

2. My dog, Brownie

I have a pet. It is a dog and I call it Brownie.Brownie is a Chinese breed. It is small, fluffy and cute. It has got thick brown fur. When Icuddle it, the fur feels soft. Brownie does not like bones. Everyday it eats soft food like

steamed rice, fish or bread. Every morning I give her milk and bread. When I am at

school, Brownie plays with my cat. They get a long well, and never fight maybe becauseBrownie does not bark a lot. It treats the other animals in our house gently, and it never

eats shoes. Brownie is really a sweet and friendly animal.

3. THE AMAZING TAJ MAHAL IN INDIATaj Mahal is regarded as one of the eight wonders of the world. It was built by a Muslim

Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his dear wife at Agra.Taj Mahal is a Mausoleum that houses the grave of queen Mumtaz Mahal. The

mausoleum is a part of a vast complex comprising of a main gateway, an elaborate

garden, a mosque (to the left), a guest house (to the right), and several other palatialbuildings. The Taj is at the farthest end of this complex, with the river Jamuna behind it.

The Taj stands on a raised, square platform (186 x 186 feet) with its four corners

truncated, forming an unequal octagon. The architectural design uses the interlockingarabesque concept, in which each element stands on its own and perfectly integrates with

the main structure. It uses the principles of self-replicating geometry and a symmetry of

architectural elements.Its central dome is fifty-eight feet in diameter and rises to a height of 213 feet. It is

flanked by four subsidiary domed chambers. The four graceful, slender minarets are162.5 feet each. The central domed chamber and four adjoining chambers include many

walls and panels of Islamic decoration.Taj Mahal is built entirely of white marble. Its stunning architectural beauty is beyond

adequate description, particularly at dawn and sunset. The Taj seems to glow in the light

of the full moon. On a foggy morning, the visitors experience the Taj as if suspendedwhen viewed from across the Jamuna river.

The Legend of Rawa PeningOnce upon a time, there was a little poor boy came into a little

village. He was very hungry and weak. He knocked at every door and

asked for some food, but nobody cared about him. Nobody wanted tohelp the little boy.

Finally, a generous woman helped him. She gave him shelter and a

meal. When the boy wanted to leave, this old woman gave him a

lesung, a big wooden mortar for pounding rice. She reminded him,please remember, if there is a flood you must save yourself. Use this

lesung as a boat. The lesung was happy and thanked the oldwoman.The little boy continued his journey. While he was passing

through the village, he saw many people gathering on the field. The

boy came closer and saw a stick stuck in the ground. Peoplechallenged each other to pull out that stick. Everybody tried, but

nobody succeeded. Can I try? asked the little boy. The crowdlaughed mockingly. The boy wanted to try his luck so he stepped

forward and pulled out the stick. He could do it very easily. Everybody

was dumbfounded.

Suddenly, from the hole left by stick, water spouted out. It did notstop until it flooded the village. And no one was saved from the water

except the little boy and the generous old woman who gave him

shelter and meal. As she told him, he used the lesung as a boat and

picked up the old woman. The whole village became a huge lake. It isnow known as Rawa Pening Lake in Salatiga, Central Java, Indonesia.

Legenda Rawa Pening

Sekali waktu, ada seorang anak kecil yang malang datang ke sebuah desa kecil. Dia

sangat lapar dan lemah. Dia mengetuk pintu setiap dan meminta makanan, tapi tak ada

yang peduli tentang dia. Tidak ada yang ingin membantu anak kecil.

Akhirnya, seorang wanita murah hati membantunya. Dia memberinya tempat tinggal dan

makan. Ketika anak itu ingin pergi, wanita tua ini memberinya "lesung", sebuah mortirkayu besar untuk menumbuk padi. Dia mengingatkan, "harap ingat, jika ada banjir Anda

harus menyelamatkan diri. Gunakan "lesung" sebagai perahu ". The "lesung" senang dan

berterima kasih kepada anak woman.The tua sedikit melanjutkan perjalanannya.

Sementara ia melewati desa, ia melihat banyak orang berkumpul di lapangan. Anak itumendekat dan melihat tongkat menempel di tanah. Orang menantang satu sama lain

untuk menarik keluar tongkat itu. Semua orang mencoba, tapi tidak ada yang berhasil.

"Dapatkah saya mencoba?" Tanya anak kecil. Kerumunan itu tertawa mengejek. Anak itu

ingin mencoba peruntungannya jadi dia melangkah maju dan mengeluarkan tongkat. Diabisa melakukannya dengan sangat mudah. Semua orang tercengang.

Tiba-tiba, dari lubang yang ditinggalkan oleh tongkat, keluar air menyemburkan. Tidak

berhenti sampai membanjiri desa. Dan tidak ada yang diselamatkan dari air kecuali anak

kecil dan wanita tua yang murah hati yang memberinya tempat tinggal dan makan. Saatia mengatakan kepadanya, ia menggunakan "lesung" sebagai perahu dan mengangkat

wanita tua. Seluruh desa menjadi sebuah danau besar. Ini sekarang dikenal sebagai Danau

Rawa Pening di Salatiga, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia.

Football ground housing plans deferred for furthernegotiation with applicant

Consideration of plans for a new housing development on the site of Cove Rangers

football grounds has been deferred while further negotiation with the applicant is carriedout.

Stewart Milne Homes submitted the application after carrying out a pre-applicationconsultation with the local community. The firm is seeking permission to build 44 two-

bedroom houses, 10 one-bedroom houses and six two-bedroom flats on the site.

Under the Aberdeen City and Shire Structure Plan, developers are expected to make a

contribution to the Strategic Transport Fund, which will be used to offset the impact of

their development on the wider strategic transport network. The applicant had argued thatin this case the contribution should not be paid.

For that reason and to ensure that no precedent is set for similar developments, plannershad recommended that councillors refuse the application. However, the Development

Management Sub Committee heard today [24 May] that Stewart Milne Homes was nowwilling to negotiate a total planning gain package further and had asked for consideration

of the application to be deferred until the next committee meeting. Members agreed to

defer.
