INTRODUCTIONPROJECT TITLE: AforE3 (Action for Environment,

Education and Economy

PROBLEM STATEMENT: In the barangays of the municipality of Tukuran, a lot of pupils lack school supplies and most families have troubles in financial support despite the 4Ps. There is also a widespread improper disposal of the juice tote packs and plastic bottles.

INTRODUCTIONCOMMUNITY NEEDS: The pupils in the barrio schools located at the farther parts of the municipality of Tukuran such as Laperian needed school supplies especially bags because some of them just use cellophanes or others don’t even go to school at all just because they don’t have a bag.. Out of school youths and unemployed residents needed a source of income and since sealed juice packs and water bottles are thrown almost anywhere, the community needs a strategy to help reduce these recyclable materials in the landfills and in the community.

INTRODUCTIONOBJECTIVES:

• To help promote environmental advocay to the youth in the community and strengthen social interactions.

• To provide income for those unemployed residents and out of school youths.

INTRODUCTIONSOLUTION STATEMENT: In order to help provide these kids school supplies, we will donate to them juice pack tote bags and inside those tote bags will be the soda bottle pencil case with pencils, crayons, ballpen and etc. donated by the people in the community and recycled notebooks made by putting together the unused pages of a spring notebook and making them to one brand new notebook by weaving it using a yarn. Then, throughout the year with the help of this project’s partners, the out of school youth and unemployed residents will use this as their source of income in which they can sell these and during the summer, the sales will stop and the products they will make will be again donated to another recipient school.

LESSONS…Learned from: (1) Social Media as Tools for Advocacy with Andrea Guzman (2) West Town Bikes with Dr. Garth Katner

Specifically About?*lf you are going to use the social media, you and the

people who will help you or your potential volunteer have to have a lot of networks. Meaning, they should have a lot of friends or followers so that a lot of people will also be able to see the information you would like to relay to them.

*Their program about training out of school youths to be bicycle mechanics, giving them the opportunity to work for bigger shops at the same time, promote biking; economical, health and environmental

Page 10: Englisa ronna christma-afor e3, Interfaith, Environmental, Action Plan, PYLP, ITO, NIU

LESSONS…How applied in your project?

*As much as possible, ask help from those people I know and I am close with in facebook and twitter who have a lot of friends, followers and network to help me announce or spread the word about my community project.

*Conduct a short training on how to create the tote bags and pencil case so that those who are interested to use it as a source of income will be able to make one and sell it.

HOW DO YOU ENSURE

SUSTAINABILITY?

Through the coordination with the LGU, continuous partnership with other government and non-government organizations, continuous spreading of the news about the project and accepting volunteers, there will be enough manpower and financial support.

And through proper leadership, maintenance of the volunteer group and continuously updating, there will be enough order and consistency, even improvement of the project.

And that is how I ensure the sustainability of the AforE3.
