GE-SEED – German Egyptian Mobility Program

Call for application: 1 October 2015 Deadline: 08 December 2015

The German Egyptian Mobility Program for Scientific Exchange and Excellence Development GE-SEED (formerly known as GESP) is a

fund that supports the exchange of scientific visits between Egyptian and German research teams, with special emphasis on

young scientists (Master and PhD students) and within the framework of a jointly submitted research project of a period up to

two years.

This program is co- financed by the Science and Technology Development Fund in Egypt (STDF) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Germany. The updated information sheet is available on the Science and Technology Development Fund website www.stdf.org.eg as well as on the DAAD website http://cairo.daad.de/en/scholarships/institutionalprogrammes/

Greco-Roman Literary Criticism and its Influence on World Literatures

Saturday 4 – Monday 6 March 2017 Topics: 1. Early origins of literary criticism and its elements in the works of early poets (Homer – Hesiod – Pindar). 2. Theories of literary criticism among the Sophists. 3. Development of literary criticism in the 5th and the 4th centuries B.C. (Plato – Aristotle). 4. Literary criticism in the Alexandrian and Post-Alexandrian ages (Dionysius of Halicarnassus – Longinus) . 5. Roman literary criticism (Cicero – Varro – Horace – Tacitus – Quintilian ) 6. Major critical theories in the Renaissance. 7. Major modern and contemporary theories of criticism.
