Second Quarter Essay
Do you think reading will not help you throughout your life? Reading I think
it really helps us a lot, whether it is a Fiction book Non-Fiction book, so like the
popular saying, the more you read the more things you will know, and the more
things you know the more places you will go. To start off, reading is very
educational. That is common knowledge. Everyone knows that. But some say
that reading a fiction book is a complete waste of time because the stories are
so-called “fake.” Others believe that there are countless ways to teach a lesson.
Fiction books expand imaginations, teach you important lessons, and help you
relax. Not just those, it can teach us a lot in different ways. There are too many to
explain all of them. So these are the four evidence that I got and will tell you
through this essay. Don’t use first person (you, me) or contractions (it’s, use
it is instead) in essays!
At school, Ithe class read a book called “ Things Fall Apart”, which was
written in Nigeria. I have some evidence from this book that I’ll talk about. The
novel is based on Ibo Culture. First I didn’t know what was Firstly, the Ibo culture
is and how am I suppose to understand the book if I did not understand the
concept.a foreign concept to many in the class, but the author includes ideas and
concepts about the Ibo culture in the story which made it easier to understand.
After reading it, a lot was learned. As I start reading the book, the book is telling
the readers about Ibo culture by telling us what’s going on and fake stories that
will match up the Ibo culture. As reading
the book I understood what is Ibo culture is and it totally teach me stuff that I did
not know before. Second lesson that was learned was about Nigeria, which is the
country the book was written in. I learned was, about the country that book
was written, which is Nigeria. The author creates the stories of what happened
in Nigeria but not tell us what really happened in reality. The author write it on his
own way. He does not write the real event or what really happened on that
country.
But through his writing, it still teached me a lessona lesson was still taught about
Nigeria in another way that the author wants his readers to understand.
There was a book I read in Korea when I was not able to speak English
that thought me a lot of lesson when I was a little boy. Growing up as a kid, I was
a little trouble-maker towards my neighbor. As my parents were wondering about
giving me an education, they bought me a book. It was called “HanBi”, which is
full of stories that
does not make sense. But through this book I learned that listening to our
parents is one of the best things we can do. When I was a kid, I thought how
could
my parents understand such fun things we enjoy as children. They are not a kid,
so I just did whatever what I wanted to do. But sometimes it ended with bad
results. For example, I scratched my face into a cement floor and cut part of my
finger off. It was not one of the best experience I ever had. The stories told me
about how a kid who gets in trouble because he never listened to his parents. He
was getting really sick and ended up losing his life.
The kid first had the same thought as me. But later on I knew that my parents
were a kid too and had done all these childish things that I was doing at the
moment. That made me think a lot about how I should act and what
actions ended up with consequences.
The other book I read was “Gib”, which
means home in Korean. I loved to go outside and hang out until late. I never
wanted to go home. But this book is about how a husband getting kicked out of
the house
because he lost all his money in gambling. His wife was not happy and the
husband ended up staying outside of the house for a week. This reminds me,
when I was a
kid, I was outside and lost my parents. I could not go back home because I did
not know where to go and was freezing cold with the snow. While crying like a
baby in the
middle of the street and freezing, it taught me that home is a best place to be.
These are the lessons that I learned through fiction books, and they are
important to me.
By reading a Fiction book, you can learn a lot if you have the will to learn.
Why would authors spend their precious time and money to make these books?
They must have reasons and we should know that these lessons can teach us
something great. Many people think that a fictional book is a waste of time and
money, but it is actually very important that we have these types books in our
lives. For the Kid and for Us.
