Conclusion : My own preference

A house is a building provides shelter for everyone to live and store

personal property. It provide safety and as a centre for everyone to have their

daily activities. The modern-day house contains sanitary facilities and has a

modern structure. Most of the house nowadays is said as improvement of the

traditional house. It combines all the benefits, function and structure of

traditional houses to become more functional. Examples for some specific

traditional houses include the Gels of Mongolian nomad, the Tree House of

Philippines and others. For these two traditional houses, my preference

would base on their materials used, location and mobility.

First of all, the building construction of Tree house is more stable than

a Gel. A Tree House of Philippines made up of bamboo with grass roof in

order to keep the house cooler while its structure of specific techniques which

support by struts and stilts can sustain the building. On the contrary, the cloth-

made Gels of Mongolian can keep warm but it is unstable compare to the

Tree House. The structure even the materials used of Tree House is harder

and more stable as a Typhoon can’t easily break it down. Nowadays, people

of countryside from many countries still stay in Tree House of its stability.

Even the modern city people also build a tree house for their kids as an

entertainment environment.

Besides, the Tree House of Philippines is good lookout for snakes and

wild animals as it built above the ground level. It can ensure people to stay in

safety, to avoid attack from animals.

For people who live in the Gels may be in dangerous and suffer more attack

from wild animals. A safer shelter is important for human after the exhausted

works, so they can relax and sleep well. To be honest, who don’t want to live

in a more security building? The main function of shelter is to protect people,

to ensure people to stay in safety but not let them to be in danger. Let’s think,

if you are now in the middle of field, can you escape from the attack from lion?

Absolutely no.

However, Gel of Mongolian also has its benefit, that is, it is a

transferable house. The Mongolian nomads can move the house when their

domestic animals have finish eaten the grass in that area.  It makes the

nomadic people to migrate in an easy way to find food for their life. Unlike a

Gel , the tree house is built tightly to the tree that people cannot simply move

it .People have to rebuilt a new tree house if they wish to migrate to other

place but normally they stay for long years in one place. For me, I don’t think

that normal people have to migrate from place to place as they do not have to

graze.

For me, I would prefer to stay in a Tree House compare to a Gel as it is

more stable and safety of its location though it cannot be moved. People build

their houses to fit the needs of their lives. The houses are different, but one

thing is the same wherever you go. There’s no place like home!
